I saw the first half .. it was okay.. sometimes its seemed that they were tiring to hard.
everyone looked really nice though. what happened in the 2nd half?
The most amusing part will be they announce a winner. And the winner will not be there, so the person who was supposed to hand over the award will keep the award. In most other award ceremonies, typically some representative (chota paanda) shows up to collect the award. Here, no one bothered. I loved that part.
The name was a bit confusing: Jazz Music Award. Jazz is obviously a type of music, so when I first read the name, I was like, when did Pakistan started playing Jazz?? Then we figured out that Mobilink's Jazz Pre-Paid phone card had sponsored the event. The subtelty obviously escaped the organizers. Or may be they enjoyed the confusion.
I missed it…![]()
it would be unfair to expect Pakistan's very first music awards to match something like the MTV awards. but still there were plenty of outstanding parts to the show and a lot of pretty ordinary ones.
a lot of what made the show weaker could have been avoided by simply cutting such parts out. there was no need for backup dancers. especially what was Humayun Saeed trying to do? but that guy who impersonated MJ was pretty good - he really got the crowd going. I'm sure a lot of the performers of the night are capable of much, much better performances and they know that. the director of the show really should have kept on top of the organization of the show such as keeping track of which of the award winners were present or not. the set was amateurish.
some of the awards were mindboggling. to see Ali Haider and Sajjad Ali get lifetime achievement awards ahead of the Signs was a joke. to not give enough credit to the Signs for being the first successful and IMO the finest Pak band is just criminal. there was even a case for inducting them into the hall of fame but... if Alamgir can make it, so can VS. Shehzad Roy getting the best male artist award was another joke. none of his recent albums have had any outstanding commerical or critical success.
some of the performances like the drummers' band Overload was amazing. the hosts were very good - much better than I expected. the choice of award presenters also exceeded my expectations. it is imperative that a music industry as vibrant and active as ours contiues to recognize its stars in such award shows. hopefully the awards will be much slicker next year.
overall, a very positive trend. and those who missed it, missed out on a real treat. it was very cool to see so the cream of Pak music scene under one roof. :)
I didnt watch all of it but i heard about it from my sister and i was kinda surprised to find out that they gave Nusrat fateh ali khan a lifetime achievement award. I mean c’mon, teh dude’s been dead for some years now ![]()
I was kind fo surprised that there wasnt an award for junaid Jamshed when there was one for Ali haider.
anyhow, it’s a good thing that they finally started music awards.
Awards were ok but very late around 1 Am Melbourne time so i did the recording on LP. but watched the first half pretty much.
It was good for the first attempt.
What I didnt liked
1) Not mentioning about Nazia & Zuhaib as there were among the POP pioneers in pakistan.
2) Lighting on the stage was simply pathetic. It should have been the brightest thing in the whole hall, but it was the dullest one with red blue and other lights making it look like night club And also Red light was used so much that it seemed like red light area. There were times when one side of the stage had some light and other side was blacked out. The person controling the white light was not accurate either.
3) A bit of miss management when it came to people who were not there to get their awards as both the award givers and presentres had no idea on what to do.
4) ** We really need to put a break on LIP singing and there is nothing as let down as countrys best singers doing LIp signing and thinkning rest of the country is enjoying their drama **

kewl, nazia got a special award, and both her and zebu were mentioned, for their special contributions and struggles.
One thing that I felt about Ghazanfar and IM, they are concentrating more and more on the present bands right now, who are rocking the scene in Pakistan, which is a good thing. There are some really nice bands that have not made it big yet. We shouldnt criticize IM too much, they have their flaws, but IM has transformed the music scene in Pakistan. They have even went out of their way and funded music videos for some really nice bands.
Every time the announcers tried to say something funny, they fell flat. I would have laughed at their jokes, if i was there, out of humility just to spare them the humiliation but the crowd there didn't care much about their feelings. and the backup dancers that ali zafar had were performing out of sync and doing random dances as if they were forced to perform at gun point.
Most of the much needed comic relief came from the award presenters but i guess half of that was unintentional. All in all, it was a pretty good show. Hope it gets even better in years to come.
Fakhiiiir for best male singer???? YEarrite.
Overall, not a bad attempt.
Anoushe and Dino need to be shot down. Iman ali looked dashing and so did Marina Khan.
^ Marina khan looked nice but i so despise teh sleeveless saaris …aaghh
and she has goten so fat…her arms look more like a thigh
so sleeveless..no wayy…same for Sawera Nadeem…overall looked fantastic…but not teh fat arms pulleeeezz..
and Humera Arhsad …loved teh red suit…but No dupatta and hair resembling a bird’s nest ![]()
bird’s nest ![]()
yeah marina khan she looks really fat on that outfit… but no doubt… she was looking good so was alot of other models…
almost everyone in the audience was looking great… since this was their first attempt.. i m gonna give em 7/10… well done indeed… ali haider looks really quite when he wasnt selected ![]()
The good (?) thing about Marina Khan was that she was sitting right in the front, and every time an award is announced she would clap so enthusiastically that it would seem her own beta/beti has won the award. Masha Allah, Khuda burri nazar say bachayay.
I hate Anoushay… I hate her… I hate her… I hate her… :yukh: :bash: Gandi churail… ![]()
I MISSED IT! when were the awards aired?
hey awards r available at www.pakistanimedia.com :D
^ Do you have to be a member in order to watch it?
so prime tv has nothing of its own to show...its now taking IM stuff so it can compete with geo and ary.
that's fabulous.
i wonder who is the CEO of ptv prime... may be sumone in his late 50s.... cuz i have seen ary ceo on the tv and he looks very young... thats why ary has more entertainment stuffs than ptv prime..
but no doubt.. no body can beat the dramas that ptv primes...
