The secularisation of the Deen and the onset of Capitalism has meant fewer and fewer people who are capable of making a positive difference are moving into positions of ethical education and traditional Islamic studies and opting for materialistic options. Parents throughout the past 50 years have been relegating their dimmer children to the madrasas and their brighter ones to the modern capitalistic establishments.

It probably has to do with ‘no more ijtihad’, from most people’s understanding religion is something you can learn by ‘rattafication’ and that it is a ‘no-brainer’ field.
