Okay, yes we should all celebrate Jashn-e-Azadi of our beloved Watan, Pakistan. But the question is what is acceptable and what is not while celebrating this important occasion?
There was a 14th August Celebration in Eisenhower Park, “Pakistani American Night” tonight (August 13th, 2006) organized by Americans of Pakistani Heritage, Inc in New York. It was fun, could have been better organized but nevertheless, overall it was fun.
**There was no Talawat in the start of the ceremony to begin with **
In the middle of the celebration, they brought a Kunjy ( ahemmmmm an artisit) to do a Mujra … … that too on an Indian song There are plenty of occasions to revive Indo-Pak friendship and appreciate their glorious films and songs, but on 14th of August?? Why did we seperate from India if we so much loved their culture and ways of living?
Not just that … NOW how wud you feel listening to Kanjraray … and these words in that song “Kali Kamli Walay ko Yaad ker keh, teray kalay kalay naenon ki kassam khatay hein …” and seeing this Kun***** doing a mujra on these word ^^
so is this the reason Pakistan was made for women like this to come and do this kind of dances etc? Im sure they couldve done all this living with hindus in India.
its ironic....how they do such stupid things on a day whose meaning is quiet the opposite.
To tell u the truth, Jaan Lewa, the whole public was numb on it, except some young boys on one side dancing and cheering to her. Everone was upset and saying why did the organizers do this? in a family function?? is this we are teaching our young generation? Majority of the crowd hated and dested it... only if Organizers could hear that disgust!
even if they do hear it they dont care, they dont take their family members to any places and they dont wanna think bout other families, they just want to do 'eyaashi'
Besides not having Talawat, what was more ironic that they did not play any mili naghmas, only filmi songs and stuff, except they found a Pakistani Artist in the crowd so they dragged him on the stage who sang Jeevay Pakistan.... so it wasn't even in the plan. errrrrrr are we celebrating Jashn-e- Pakistan?
you shouldve made a point to tell the organisers...and encouraged others to do the same....it does have a lot of effect....if they know that people werent happy with it.
Well they all vanished at the end but I do plan to find out more about the organization, "Americans of Pakistani Heritage (appears more Indian heritage to me :D ) and complain to them. May be some of the organizers should sit in the audience rather than sitting in the seperate VIP block, where they only hear their own flattering sounds.
