Jashn-e-azadi mubarak to everyone

On behalf of entire GS team I would like to wish Jashn-e-Azadi Mubarak to all GS members. As we celebrate this independence day keep in mind that half Pakistan is under water. Please do whatever you can to help in your individual capacity, and keep victims of the devastating floods in your prayers.

May Allah help Pakistan become stronger and prosper nation, and may He unite us in overcoming this tragedy.

Regards,
Shamraz

***Zardari Urges Pakistan to Aid Flood Victims in Message on Independence Day:

President Asif Ali Zardari urged Pakistanis to mark the anniversary of the country’s birth today by helping the millions displaced by its worst ever floods that have killed 1,600 people and savaged the economy.

“The best way to celebrate the Independence Day this year is to reach out to the victims of this natural disaster, heal their wounds and help them to help themselves,” Zardari said in an e-mailed statement. The president was criticized by the opposition for continuing a tour of Europe as the floods spread, destroying communication networks and ruining thousands of acres of agricultural land.***

Re: Jashn-e-azadi mubarak to everyone

not sure if jashn is the appropriate word today… not just because of the flood but because of the war we have to fight with the animals within our borders who don’t accept Pakistan. who knew that 60 years after independence, we’d have to fight an internal enemy who will oppose the very idea of Quaid’s Pakistan from within the borders.

today is not to day to celebrate. today is the the day to remember, pay tribute and thank the shuhada who made the ultimate sacrifice for their country. those shuhada include Sifwat Ghayyur, Captain Bila Zafarl, Captain Najam Riaz, Captain Jonaid Khan, Major M. Akbar and many others whose stories were not brought forward in the media. to them and their brave families, as a Pakistani, a sincere shukriya. we owe Pakistan and our freedom to brave men and women like you.

and to the rest of us, we must remember our heroes as we fight the deadly enemy within our borders… because nations that don’t remember their heroes and their mohsins soon have none left.

Re: Jashn-e-azadi mubarak to everyone

I would also like to suggest that we should have either a full section or at the very least a sticky thread where we pay tribute to these brave shuhada who lost their mortal lives fighting for their country. we can post the stories of these brave men and women in that thread along with any articles that have been written to pay tribute to them.

we're in a state of war. this is the least we can do for our heroes.

Re: Jashn-e-azadi mubarak to everyone

Happy Independence day!

Enjoy yourselves, but in the hindsight never forget what it took to create this nation that we often neglect. Work for your pride, dignity, honor. Know, appreciate, and bond with your roots. Promote Pakistan in a way that removes all misconceptions that have surfaced over time, and present a living example of what it really means to be Pak-istani!

Salute to all our brave soldiers who have lost lives protecting this great nation!
Salute to all the patriots who have, and continue to work hard day and night for the betterment of this great land!
Salute to all citizens of all ages, creed, cast, who dream of this nation attaining its rightful place in the world! To be a shining example of the true Islam!

While we celebrate, let us also not neglect and forget our brothers, sisters and elders who are in less joyous circumstances due to recent calamities, and lets all lend a helping hand in any way we can. Every little bit counts!
