Japanese food...

was pretty good the first few weeks. I was quite excited about embarking on a Japanese gastronomical adventure. I tried the sushi, the various noodles (soba, udon), rice, gudon, yaki niku, tempura etc. but after a while I’ve just began to find it extremely tasteless and I’m constantly craving Mummy’s good food. The tempura (which is fried fish and stuff) seems to be the most tasty, as well as the grilled meat (yaki niku), other than that I cant live on noodles in a watery soup for very long. Even the rice you get here is this short, sticky rice. I cant seem to find normal long grain rice in any of the normal shops.

The other day my friend made me try this dish which is quite popular here. Its called ‘taco’, which is basically octopus fried in some sort of batter. I put this entire thing in my mouth, I chewed once and was about to spew because it was so disgusting. My friend was like, did you throw it out? And ive still got the thing in my mouth, and im not chewing and i said no, and pretended to chew, but I turned around and well yeah, I had to get rid of it. It was disgoosting.

But its quite healthy the food.

As for sushi, I would like it if it didnt have the seaweed. I cant eat seaweed. SO I opt for the version without the seaweed, which is called ‘onigiri’. And rawfish (sashimi), well I cant do that either unless its exceptionally good.

Quite interesting the food is, but not as interesting as desi food.

I know what you mean, the japanese food is good but not for everyday!

I like having sushi and sashimi once in a while, (its really tasty) but having it everyday would kill the taste for me.

I tried some other japanese dishses, they were ok.

um, I can more or less cook, and I do cook, but when I'm at home my mother cooks.
