I got my hair straightened earlier this year and now am interesting in gettting highlights done. Does anyone on here have any personal experiences regarding this? I am talking about hair damage etc. My sis got hers done and her hair is fine. But one of the salons were scaring me alot about this so any personal exp you guys share will be good.

im pretty sure ur nott supposed to do the two together.... for at least 3-6 months... so depends on how long its been... definitely Dont do it if its less than 3 months for the straightening...
by the way.. im considering straightening.. hmm.. if u dont mind.. how much did it cost? how long was the procedure? do u love it or hate it? how does your hair feel now?

oh wow..i just heard that my sister's sister-in-law got her hair jap straightened. i was just wondering does the procedure damage ur hair alot? AND does it depend on how curly ur hair is? can u curl ur hair after straightening?

Actually i've heard that it damages the roots real bad and can affect scalp condition too which in the long-term results in hair loss / fall... so just be careful before u go doing this - maybe speak to a couple of specialists first and get more feedback from ppl who have had them done.

i got my hair highlited everything wuz ok untill the highlits completed their life its been an year and my hair r really damaged iam conditioning them a lot n oiling etc if ur hair r oily they might not get that much damaged but if they r normal to dry tau i would recommend not to highlite em waisay bhe black is in thing

I got highlights few years back. I didn't have any hair damage. My hair are still same and healthy. I think it damages if you do it too frequently.

I posted pics a while back of my hair straightening process, and i had my hair highlighted 10 weeks later and haven't had any problems. You should always get the straightening done before the highlighting as they can't straighten already highlighted hair.

straight hair is out...natural wavy hair is in....and highlights are definitely not in fashion anymore..stick with an allover natural color..

Thansk for all the input btw. If i do decide to get them done, i will be getting a strand test done first. It has been 6 months since i got my hair straightened so i think it sould be somewhat safe. Like i said before,my sis also got her hair highlighted pretty soon after a straightening and hers is fine so far MaashaAllah. It must depend on the type ofhair, the chemicals used and how often you expose your hair to them.

i thought highlights were one of those things that are just always in fashion? you can do highlights that are low-contrast so its not like you have dark hair and bright red highlights, or you can opt for lowlights instead if you want. i say if you feel like doing it, forget fashion, just go for it! :)

i got my hairs highlighted few months ago,they were not damaged..it also depends upon season,in autumn... hairs become dry so dont highlight in autumn.
before highlighting... first test ur hairs n then follow ur beautician advice...

i had a perm and highlights done one after another (gap of 2 months) and my hair was fine..... but now i feel the damage that had done after 2 years :|
