Has anyone used Jan Marini’s glycolic face wash? How is it? Any particular benefits?
Re: Jan Marini
Yep, I've been using it for past 2 years. I use every other day as shouldn't use it everyday, so I've been told. I really like, helped with clearing my skin up and any acne scars. Also makes the skins appear brighter. It's not as harsh as some other glycolic washes.
Re: Jan Marini
tania why shouldnt it be used everyday? Are there side effect of it?
I have been their products including oily skin bioglycolic cleanser for a year and a half now. It really controls the oiliness for me and i have/had super oily skin. I have never tried any other glycolic acid prod so cant compare but i really like this one to stick with it.
Re: Jan Marini
^ a derm told me that since glycolic acid (an aha) removes the (dead) layer of skin, what will eventually happen if overused is that the skin will become too thin. So unless, you use something to boost collagen in the skin, try and avoid usuing glycolic products on a daily basis. That said, the JM wash is fairly gentle so you have nothing to worry about. But always make sure you use a sunscreen as any aha will make the skin more sensitive to the sun.
I wash my face with Dermalogica special cleansing gel then with JM bioglycolic face wash as the latter isn't really a cleanser for make-up. I was told that if you have make-up on and use the JM wash, it won't penetrate your skin as well so wash off your make-up with a normal cleanser before.
Another thing which I like and slightly off the point is a vit C serum used in the morning before your moisturiser. That will boost your skin, make it appear brighter and has great anti-aging benefits.
Re: Jan Marini
tania thanks for the info. I didnt know that ahas can thin out the skin. I use bioclear as well although not as regularly as i should but atleast once every other day. You think this is over doing it? At times, i also use some other face wash. Also, i heard the same thing you did about JM wash not taking makeup off so now i use makeup wipes first.
I had dermalogica products lying around the house and i recently started using them and i think combined with Jan Marini they are keeping me a bit more clearer.
Re: Jan Marini
Ira, dermalogica products are good. No you’re not overdoing it al all. Try and use bioclear at night than morning. I also bought bioclear but in the cream formula and found it too greasy for my skin. I should have got the lotion. Tbh, I think the only way aha’s can thin your skin out too much is if you use a much stronger product daily and you’re definitely not.
check this out as I love them and have started using it more so than JM face wash. Ultimately they do the same thing. http://www.hqhair.com/code/products.asp?PageID=635&SectionID=697&FeaturedProduct=7493&pID=1
Re: Jan Marini
I wouldnt use 'em. They might offer instant results BUT in the long run when a person is in their late 30s and 40s all those wrinkles cause due to the skin being too thin after using these products is good enough to steer clear.
Re: Jan Marini
thanks tanya.
adra, which products are you talking about?
Hadn’t heard of her prior to this thread… Will check out her website later on and see what she’s all about. ![]()
thanks tanya.
adra, which products are you talking about?
anything with acid in it.
If you really really wanto look after your skin and make sure it stays young in older years do a research on antioxidants and their effect on skin :)
Has anyone used Mario Badescu products?
I did, a long time ago. Mario Badescu's pimple drying lotion. Did not like it too much. They sent me some samples of other skin care products as well, but nothing great about them.
anything with acid in it.

Thanks Adra iw ill look into them.
Re: Jan Marini
A combination of aha (ie acid) products and antioxidants are good. aha products help to get rid of fine lines so I don't think they will cause more wrinkles.
