Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

The self-righteous outlaws of Jamiat are shocked to see the response from common university students. They could not think that anyone could dare to stand up against their hegemony in the university.

LAHORE: Around 3,500 students of the Punjab University (PU) protested for the second day in a row on Friday against the hooliganism of the Islami Jamiat Talaba (IJT).

About 3,000 students had protested against the IJT on Thursday. Later, on Thursday night, around 50 IJT activists had marched through several hostels shouting that they intended to stay in the university and would make sure that their rules were being followed.

On Friday, the students shouted slogans some of which are Go Jamiat Go; nikal do nikal do, Jamiat ko nikal do (out with Jamiat); Jamiat ko bhagana hai, university ko bachana hai (we have to get rid of Jamiat and save the university) and Jamiat ka jo yar hai, ghaddar hai, ghaddar hai (Traitor is the friend of Jamiat). The students also chanted slogans against General Pervez Musharraf and the imposition of emergency in the country.

The rally went around several departments of the university. The protesters also criticised the PU administration, accusing it of nurturing the IJT. They said the IJT had no right to enforce its rules in the varsity.

Haroon Rasheed, a student, said the PU administration and several teachers were trying to mar the anti-IJT protests. He said many teachers were sympathetic towards the IJT and were supporting it.

Amber Sajjad, a student at the Institute of Communication Studies, said she had no interest in politics, but was protesting because she did not approve of the IJT’s policies. She also condemned the IJT’s manhandling of Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf chairman Imran Khan.

PU registrar Dr Naeem Ahmed Khan said the students’ agitation against the IJT was increasing. He said the protests would yield a fruitful result. He said the PU administration wanted to provide the students all their rights and was expecting a favourable result for their freedom.

A strong police contingent was deployed outside the university, but no policeman entered the university because the rally remained peaceful.

IJT thrashes journalist: IJT workers thrashed Aoun Zahoor, reporter of a local newspaper, Daily Jurat, for for covering the anti-IJT rally. Zahoor said the IJT workers had dragged him to a hostel where they beat him up. Reporters of many other newspapers have also complained that IJT workers had manhandled or misbehaved with them. staff report

These badmaashs did not just beat Imran Khan but also senior journalists who came to cover anti-IJT rally.

LAHORE: The Lahore Press Club has banned the coverage and organization of all events by the Islami Jamiat Talaba on its premises for manhandling journalists from the print and electronic media during the visit of national hero Imran Khan to the Punjab University on Wednesday. A press statement issued by the governing body of the club stated that Jamiat activists manhandled and threatened Daily Nawa-e-Waqt senior reporter Azam Chaudhry, Geo News reporter Ahmad Faraz, a TV reporter Imran Aslam and cameraman Mohammad Akhlaq along with other journalists present to cover the event.

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

IJT brutal practises of oppression and the way Musharraf is dealing with the nation these days, is no different. I'm pretty confounded by whom he idolizes: Attatuerk and yet has all Mullahs backing him (almost all).
On the other hand It's not even a surprise to me any more, since his double standards are being exposed to the full by Geo and Co. No wonder he needed them to go off.

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

The Jamiat could gather only 60 people as they marched around the campus chanting ' Jamiat abhi bi zinda hai'. The problem is that the administration is protecting the jamiat as many of the teachers today were members of the jamiat during their student lives.

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

this is what is left of the jamiat. This against the 3500 students who protested against them

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

Notice how they're all guys.

Idiots.

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

Good to hear.. There should be a major crack down on these mini terrorsits across the campus... Arrest their leaders and supporters and ban it on all campuses!

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

The truth that Immy tried to feed everyone that mullahs are good people until he got molested by the mullahs? What truth are you referring to?

The only truth is that we must do everything in our power to stop Pakistan from turning into Afghanistan or Iraq. This lawyyyers and media men drama is secondary to that. The sooner people realize this, the easier it will be.

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

He didn't try to feed mullah people, he was just bringing everyone togther for the country. And look he did it. Jamat-e-Islami who had such a strong hold in PU revolted against their own party for wrongly getting Imran arrested. So i think hats off to the guy!

And remember to turn a place into Afghanistan or Iraq you don't need mullah, injustice and bloodshed by anyone can do it.

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

I'm glad they're cleansing the campus of this group that believes it has the authority to dictate what takes place on campus, who can come, who can't. I say BRAVO! to the student for finally taking action and displaying their discontent and strength to these so-called 'Jamait Islami'....by actions they're nowhere close to the name.

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

If IJT goes, some other power group will fill the vacum, like in Karachi, when IJT was drived out by APMSO, the later adopted the same methods openly. so IJT or APMSO is not our real problems. Our problem is the culture which produce and nurture IJT or APMSO or MSF kind orgnazitions, we need to stand against this culture, we need to put our efforts together to bring this culture down, otherwise another group will replace IJT and same will continue under different banner.

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

^Ur absolutely right. I'm with that too.

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

Yup, and this is the best time to change this culture all over Pakistan.

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

You know....how metal takes shape! It heats till it's glazing, it'll burn anything within to purify itself, and then it takes the shape for a whole new form.

Pakistan is like that at the moment, it's boiling to the point where it's gonna change, either for the better or the worse. The shape that it takes, will last for quite a while. Lets hope the change is for the BEST.

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

can we keep provincial jahalat out of these threads please, thank you.

Noe for some history lessons..

jamiat was not defeated in karachi by MQM or APMSO, they dealt the last blow to an already dying organization.

It was NSF...National Students Federation that took a stand against IJT offered students a platform to speak up against this menace on campuses. defeated them ideologically, and defeated their aggression with..sadly...aggression. but the message was sent loud and clear, you can not run our campuses.

Re: Jamiat in trouble in Punjab University

InshaAllah; East or west Imran is the best:D
