When did that happen?
I followed it, it was so sad... He is reported to have traversed about 5-6 miles but was only a mile away from his car... Everyone should take extreme caution when getting on the roads during harsh winters.

Whats most sad is that the poor guy left his baby girls and wife to look for help. For two days...as he moved further and further away he stripped off his clothes to use as markers when he found help. This guy walked for two fricking days to save his family! TWO! He died before he could find any help. The girls will remember their dad as a hero. Its this type of courage only a parent has. He could of turned back and gone back to the car, but he ventured further until his death.
He was apparently following the river. Years ago it was advised people walk along bodies of water as people in rural neighbourhoods often have houses backing water. In winter though, it proves disasterous as the river proves incredibly cold. Sadly, had he would find no houses in the direction he was going. He would of eventually died anyway. In hindsight, had he followed the river the opposite way, he would of found a resort. Its just another tragic part of this story.
He was a great guy, I ran into him at CES in 2005. We'll all miss him. It was a family trip gone bad. Very bad. May his babies, all three of them remember James as a hero. In the past few days he would become mine.
