well dunno if its a 1e april joke (its kinda late ) or if its real, but apparently the pakista government is helping out poor peeple with jahez. They r giving out depending on how poor some one is the sum of RPS. 50.000 for jahez. This is a real good thing I think, and will help out a lot of poor peeple.
The only thing is that Ghatia log will try to take adantage of this :o
I hope they have a good plan for this, and all works out good

Rupees 50....hahhah
thats great help , atleast there will be an extra pair of socks in her Jahez.
Hmm........shouldnt the govt be taking steps against jahez and not FOR it??This seems to me like they are promoting it, if this news is even true although I highly doubt it!!!!!Where is the source to this Pra bro?
You are dealing with european continental figures. They put the decimal instead of a comma for some reason. I have had an american education so i place a comma, but the standard here in Western europe is that of a dot.
Jahez isn't an Islamic principle, right ? So shouldn't the government ban it outright ? Wouldn't that be more appropriate - at least from an Islamic perspective - than to do what they are currently doing?
Anyhow, i understand the cultural significance behind it. We gave jahez when my eldest sister got married, and yes it was a lot. That wasn't Islamic. That's how i understand it anyways (sorry if this discussion wasn't meant to discuss something from a religious point of view, don't want to start any WWIII's in here).
My only point is - shouldn't the govt. be educating society about what is and isn't Islamic rather than pandering to cultural norms that are actually anti-Islamic in nature?
sigh No one shoot me if you disagree with me. jeez just say it nicely and i'll be more willing to listen.
I agree with Nadia.
Jahez isnt islamic, only some cultures in pakistan have dowry traditions, the govt should ban the system altogether instead of encouraging it..
