the rest i agree with but nowadays many people dont get jewelry for the whole family like sets ... like for me id get my MIL a set but the rest rings ..
secondly, yes its a form of anything and everything a bride wants to take with her to her new home .. nowadays tht is ..
furniture/appliances are the most common and obv clothes and the rest of the necessities .. but honestly every house already has its necessities these days so .. its really anything u wana take ..
if however, you are going to be living alone with the husband and build the house from scratch .. everything can be taken .. some brides even prefer just taking money with themselves and spend as and when they please

i totally agree with shazia - its just bad influence anyways ... i hear stories like - mostly in uneducated families that if the woman doesnt bring something particular she even gets divorced or hit !! :O .. and my finace was tellin me about this news on tv? that this bride didnt bring a CD 100 motorbike instead she brought CD 70 and both the families fought and cancelled the barat??? i mean watt daaa faaaa ...
yea so .. umm .. same goes with me .. my in laws the very first day were like we dont want anything .. in fact if u need something in this house tell us and we'll arrange .. which they are too even without me askin :) MA .. but yeah ill buy whatever i wana buy :D

Shaza i 100% agree with you! a couple of months back i made a huge fuss about buying all this jaheiz stuff which is STUPID! my family go as far as gifting brothers and sisters of the grooms/brides parents! its ridiculous and it NEEDS TO STOP! like the wedding is in fact costing enough and then they have to go through WASTING money on buying clothes/furniture etc..my mum INSISTED on buying my bed/wardrobe/bedside tables and thats when i stopped her and said WHAAT? it's a crazy stupid tradition which doesn't even make sense to me!

wow theres some mix opinions here. I understand the girl taking esential stuff for herslf but why on earth should she kit out the whole family. Isn't it enough that her perents are giving her to the next family. people have mentioned gifts for the family is this given both ways, so the girls family give teh lads family an the lads family give the girls?
I would personaly be offended if my daughter in laws family gave her furniture to bring to my house...like dnt u think we hav our own or isnt it good enough

very well said shosh trust me its all about greed i mean where do they get off demanding or even expecting (undercover) for gold gifts what a joke gold is at its highest at the moment just buying the dulhans gold is enough

my sisters saas said noo way you are doing any stupid stuff like giving jahaiz n stuff to whole khandan..she is our daughter now and we can take care of her you don't need to worry about her now (she just got engaged)
