KARACHI: Pakistan’s ailing ghazal king, Mehdi Hassan isn’t likely to forget his Indian counterpart, Jagjit Singh too soon.

India’s celebrated ghazal king has collected Rs 5 million to meet the medical expenses of Hassan, who is suffering from cancer.

According to the Daily Mail , Singh, who was visiting Pakistan after a gap of 24 years, enthralled his audience with memorable ghazals for almost three hours on Friday.

A huge crowd jostled for space as Singh rendered his repertoire of songs in a calm and composed manner.

Using the occasion to pay rich tribute to Hassan, he said: “I will remember the respect which I got from the people of Pakistan.”
