Jadoo in islam

Magic/Black magic, nazir, jadoo, all these this seem to be very commonly believed in both Pakistan and INdia. But how true is it?and how do we protect ourselves?

There was black magic done on the Prophet saw and from that we learnt that reading the 3 kuls 3 times is protection from nazir/magic.Is this the only thing that Allah swt has told us to do for protection?

There was also a hadith that states that a certain number of ppl on the day of judgement will not enter paradise because they either practised/used magic or believed in amulets.

 amulets are taweez…so where does taweez stand in our religion? and what magic is halal if any…and what about those ppls who phookay on pani or check if there is jadoo on you…where do they stand?these are ppl who are imams/malwis of masjids…

where does magic stand in Islam? what are the bidats practised today and wahts factual in our religion concerning magic, taweez, etc.?

(Especially i would wanna focus on the bidats)

I have read that “Magic” in all forms is called “shaitani aamaal” (deeds of the devil). This includes black magic, vodoo and even illusions. Islam strictly forbids carrying out acts of magic or believing they can help you. However, its true that magic is a real phenomenon as it is clearly shown from the stories of the lives of Prophet Moses (Allaih Salaam) and Prophet Muhammad :saw:

Not sure about Taweez etc. If they are for the purpose of harming someone, they are definitely the same, regardless of whether they are given by a so-called scholar. If it is for your own good, its probably superstitious, and not magic, and is still not something which Islam advocates. There is an ayat which says that only Allah knows of whats to come in our future and no one can change that.

All the magic, black majic, sifli etc are evil and from evil sources.
nazar is sort of hasad (jeolousy) and it could be unintentional to harm the person, but it has its bad impact on the person.

The Quran has the Qul-sharief and several other ayaats which are a cure for these evil-deeds. But beware that lots of Aamil these days in Pak/India claim to have Quranic cure, but infact they do jadoo/tona stuff.
One thing needs to keep in the mind that a person can do either Sifli amal or its cure from Quran at one time. Because sifli/black majic is dirty and Quran is pure and pak, they both cannot be learnd by one person.

May Allah protect us from buri-nazar, jadoo/tona and jaali peer/faqeer. Ameen. Read Quran daily and seek his mercy and protection.

Where in the Koran does it say about the existence of Jadoo and its forbiddance? Can a person be a Muslim and also disbelieve in Jadoo?

Where does the Koran state that it is a cure to Jadoo? I have read the Koran but have not found any such claim. The Koran is full of advices, orders, suggestions, philosophy, promises, threats, stories and rules. How can such verses cure Jadoo?

If a verse says 'be nice to the poor people', or 'say your prayers regularly', how can reading this verse invoke the supernatural?? Only those people can say such things who do not know Arabic and have not studied the koran, for them the koran are meaningless words, and he can mistake them to be mantras.

but where does wearing quran ayats, hanging quran ayats, reading quran ayats and phooking saffron pani and drinking it or showering in it stand? is this all bidat???
and if its bidat…then watabout the malwi saabs who practise it?

If the holy prophet used to do that, we’d love to do it by all means. You can hang ayats on your wall or Safar Ki Dua in your car so that you can read it off there, thats fine i guess, but associating supernatural qualities to the koran which it DOES NOT claim to have, is not a service to Islam.

Actually its stupid, koran is a book of philosophy, a guide to life, a book of logic and history and a source of social law and personal ethics, how can phooking it on water create magic?

250 years ago when Madrassas of India started produing hundreds of thousands of molvis all over India, and they were out of jobs and out of things to do, and knew no skill to feed themselves, they started using such gimmickry to attract customers.

It existed before them too, to an extent, it was very popular in hindus, but using koran for the purpose was an innovation my molvis.

ik tou pagal insaan hai ooper se gupshup per ajaata hai :smack:

Bhai..ever heard of Tauooz in Quran i.e. the last two surah of Quran. They were taught to our Prophet :saw: by Allah swt to get rid of the majic which was done on him by jews.

Read the ‘Arabic’ of these suran (if you are saudi born which it looks like) or this english translation of it. It does address the majic and it likes issues.

i have been watching ptv world for some days now and they seem to have launced a crusade against the road side fortune tellers in lahore etc . they have been interviewing those men who read palm etc who are called najoomi's i think.
well i want to ask the learned men from ptv why are they wasting thier precious time after these poor people who are making thier living out of it? ifr some one goes to them its not thier fault?
for gods sake leave them alone and get after serious issues

Is the popular song ''Jadoo teri nazar..'' also haraam?

Ask for Allah's mercy and refrain from passing judgments about Quran and Islam.

Little knowledge is dangerous!

Look at his silly statement about Quran above. When he is answered with reference and Quran itself he has come to his level and mockering.

Hmm...care to shed light on ruhaani jadoo or ruhaani ilaaj?

From what i've figured there is the good and then there is the bad in magic.

No Brother. A jadoo is a jadoo. Its always bad. What Allah has provided is the cure for it. To get rid of it. You cannot do evildeeds with Quranic ayaah, but only the cure of it. They are two different things. And I must say that is the real different b/w Shaitaaan and Rehmaan.

These things cannot be combined.

Rehmaan and Shaitaan.
Tawheed and Shirk.
Quranic ayaah and Jadoo.
and list can go a long way....

Dear Mr. Scholar, if someone doesn't reply to your illogical scholarly knowledge, that doesn't mean they're scared of the great wisdom you posses, it only means they have a life beyond GS and may have other better thing to do.

I don't like debating on such idiotic issues, but just in order to provide you with an opportunity to reveal your great knowledge and wisdom to the public, I'm going on with a debate. I will appreciate if you get back to me with a point-by-point logical argument to prove me wrong, rather than coming up with a fatwa with no logical proof. We know you have great religious knowledge, i request you to share it with your muslim brethren on this forum.

(¯`·.Can Koran be used to perform or cure Magic? ]·..·´¯)

°o.O Those Who say Koran is Magic will be Cast in Hell O.o°

The Koran mentions people who said about the Koran: `This is nothing but magic handed down". For such people, God has said: "Soon shall I cast him into the fire of Hell." (Koran, 74:24,26)

°o.O Those Who say Koran is Magic are Disbelievers O.o°

And those who disbelieve say about the truth when it comes to them, `This is nothing but manifest sorcery.' (Koran, 34:43)

°o.O The Disbelievers allege Koran to be Magic O.o°

"Nay, but I bestowed upon these disbelievers and their fathers worldly provision until there comes to them the truth and a Messenger who makes his Message clear. But when the truth came to them they said, `This is sorcery and we do reject it.'" (Koran, 43:29,30)

°o.O The Koran is a clear Truth and not Magic O.o°

And when Our clear Signs are recited unto them, those who disbelieve say of the truth when it comes to them, `This is manifest sorcery.'(Koran, 46:7)

I had said the same thing in my post that Koran is a message to people, and contains the philosophy of life. Such verses can not do the supernatural. You made it sound like I was passing derogatory comments. Now you know that is what the Koran has said about itself.

°o.O Secrets Arts and Magic? O.o°

Your other scholar brother has quoted the surah's that he claims possess supernatural powers of magic. In all those surah's there was only one verse that gave a slight idea of any supernatural art. That is:

YUSUFALI: From the mischief of those who practise secret arts;

a) This verse seeks refuge from Allah from the practicers of the secret arts. It does not teach us to seek refuge in the verses of the Koran, like you are suggesting.

b) Yousaf Ali in what he calls an ''approximate translation'' has changed the original words of the Koran. The Koran does not mention any secret arts in this verse. Here are some other translations which prove me right.

Palmer: and from the evil of the blowers upon knots;

Daryabadi: And from the evil of the women blowers upon knots,

Ayub Khan: and from the evil of the women who blow on knots,

Qaribullah: from the evil of the blowers on knots;

Shakir: And from the evil of those who blow on knots,

Sher Ali: And from the evil of those who blow upon the knots of mutual relationships to undo them,

Arberry: from the evil of women who blow on knots,

If Yousaf Ali doesn't know what 'women who blow on knots' means, it does not mean he should change the phrase to 'those who practice secret arts.'

c) This verse mentions WOMEN who blow on the knots. The phrase used for them mentions a feminine gender. If this phrase is about pracitioners of magic, then why does it only talk about female magiciains? Does that mean that the Koran can not cure the magic done by male magicians?

Kindly reply point by point rather then making general sweeping statements about the state of my faith. Its time to prove my knowledge is 'little' and yours is 'big'. Its time to share your knowledge with the the rest of us. The public is waiting.

Kindly be careful in your statements:

There are only FOUR things mentioned as Haraam in the Koran. The pictures are not among them. These four things are:

1- Blood,
2- and flesh of swine
3- Eating something that has been slaughtered in the name of someone other than Allah
4- Usuary

However it has been stated:

"And, for what your tongues describe, do not utter the lie, (saying) This is Halaal and this is Haraam, in order to forge a lie against Allah; surely those who forge the lie against Allah shall not prosper."(16:116)

You can argue that it is forbidden, but you can not say it is Haraam because Allah did not mention it to be so.

Assalam Alaikum,
I don't know from where to start, and I do agree Quran was never claimed to be the book to be there to used as fighting magic and other things but my experience has given me some perception that I am now unable to keep it as secret.

About two years back, I started getting strange experiences but truly speaking I never shared those experiences with anybody, not even my friends, neither my family. The experiences were strange dreams, dreams like some bad looking guy following me and i ma trying to run away from me and the following continued until I woke up (means my sleep was disturbed), even I when I was awake I used to get feeling some secret agents were having surveillence over me everywhere(even when I am alone) and always. At nights when I used to lie for sleep my chest used to be like burning by fire. In the darkness I used to see illusions of creatures like gorgoils. There were a lot waswasas used to come into my mind, don't ask me what extent of waswasas about my parents and my family people used to come into my mind. I tell you those experiences were not there ever before. But the night I can never forget was the night before 15th Shaban 2001. I apologise if my beliefs conflict from somebody, but those are my perceptions. At the night of 15th Shaban, when I was saying prayers of Isha I was disturbed by strange noises of wind and headache, but without witr I somehow completed teh farz and went to sleep although that is night of prayers (shab e barat), AT 12 AM some halwa came from neighborhood , i woke up to recieve it and putted it in the fridge. I thought since I have woke up I should cpmplete witrs, I did so and went tyo sleep again. At 2 Am I woke as the result feeling of high temperature of my body and headache, I don't know from where I thought I should recite the two Quls, I recited them, believe me I got the feeling as my whole soul was getting out through three holes in my head and i am getting relief from the headache and I was able to sleep again. After that I never got the feeling ever again as I got at that night BUT my experiences of waswasas and the feeling of surveillence and sight of illusions and the dreams continued.
After some time I went to a psychiatrist and he started my treatment and now I masha Allah I don't have any of those feelings right now.
