As ailing reality TV star Jade Goody fights the losing battle aginst her life, her family and friends are by her side, awaiting the inevitable moment.
Briefing the media on Goody’s health, her publicist Max Clifford said, “The more sedated she is, the weaker she gets. It’s a very critical time. She is unconscious a lot of the time, almost in a coma-like state - although she is not in an actual coma.”
As actor Shilpa Shetty awaits a nod to meet her ‘Celebrity Big Brother’ house-mate for the last time.
“I wanted see her, but heard she is not even awake…she is heavily drugged. It is very critical. No one allowed me to meet her. Will wait till its ok to meet. I respect the family’s wishes,” said Shilpa Shetty, against whom Goody’s alleged racist remarks on the reality show sparked public outrage in Britain and India; and Shetty went on to win the competition.
To make amends, Jade Goody was India last summer to star in its version of ‘Big Brother.’ It was there - in a shocking diagnosis captured on television - that she found out about her cancer.
Most of the media have praised her commitment to her sons and her effort to draw attention to the need for regular Pap smears, which can catch cervical cancer in its early, treatable stages.
Goody, who has ‘got just hours to live’ is very weak and sedated.
“The only people by her side at her home in Essex are her Mum and her husband Jack Tweed, although a priest has visited earlier in the day” said her publicist Max Clifford.

While reality TV star Jade Goody struggles through her last few days in the UK, 8,000 kilometres away, children in India are praying the end is peaceful for her.
26-year-old Manoj Gurung is one of those rescued by the Railway Children NGO, to which Goody had made a donation of Rs 25 lakh in 2007. Gurung ran away from his village Sibsoo, in Bhutan, as a 10-year-old because he could no longer bear the emotional and physical torture by his father. "I don’t want to talk to my father. However, I really like Jade Goody. She is a good human being, may God be kind to her,‘’ he said.
Two years before Danny Boyle and India’s slumdog situation drew world attention, Goody had made a donation to Railway Children to help runaway children at railway stations. Said Mrinalini Roy, the country director of Railway Children, "Goody had heard about us through our UK offices. She wanted to meet some of the rescued kids and I had accompanied her to our Delhi shelter in 2007.‘’
Rao said that Goody had thoroughly enjoyed mingling with the children, and honestly answered their questions. She recalls when one boy had asked Goody why she was so rude to Shilpa Shetty, the reality TV star had frankly replied that she had made a mistake and openly apologised. "Now as Goody faces the harshest reality of her life, our Railway Children family in India is praying for her. We have also posted a colourful card to her,‘’ Rao said.
Gurung personally posted the special card for Goody. "It is people like Goody who make a difference to our lives. We are all sad that while her donation gave us a fresh chance to live, she herself is dying in England.‘’

So sad, she lives quite nr me. Never thought much of her after her treatment of Shilpa on CBB but have to admit am impressed with the way she has dealt with all this, putting all her affairs in order, earning enough to put her boys thru private school and give them the best possible start in life. I read somewhere that she had said she didn't want them to grow up ignorant like her and I had tears in my eyes. If it had been me in her situation I prob would have just crumpled and given up :(

I dont see all the fuss. Yes she is a minor reality TV celeb but thousands of people live with and die of cancer everyday. I dont see why she has to get special treatment and be plastered on the front pages of the newspapers everytime something new happens. Also there are so many people jumping on the bandwagon, Elton John, Harrods, even Michael Jackson.
I do feel sorry for Jade and especially her children but she is taking the whole thing too far. Wendy Richard died from cancer recently but she did not see the need to air her private affairs in the public arena.

^That's so true.
I really feel for her, and she has really tried to make amends with the Indians. I salute her for bringing up her children so they don’t turn out as ignorant as she was.
