Jackson urges Musharraf to resign immediately

It looks like message from future most probable US president Barack Obama.

Jackson urges Musharraf to resign immediately -DAWN - Top Stories; August 15, 2008

WASHINGTON, Aug 14: American civil rights leader Jesse L. Jackson, Sr., has urged President Pervez Musharraf to resign immediately and save his country from further political chaos.

In a statement issued by his office, Mr Jackson also appealed for end to violence in Pakistan.

“For the sake of democracy, civility and security, I appeal to President Musharraf to step down,” he said. “Further violence and bloodshed must be avoided. A restoration of peace is essential.”

Mr Jackson said that by stepping down, President Musharraf could open a pathway to restore social and economic stability in the country.

Similarly, he said, the government could boost the rule of law by restoring the judges deposed by President Musharraf.

He said it was apparent that the country’s legislative bodies, and the Pakistani people, had lost all confidence in the ability of President Musharraf to lead the nation. “He must step down immediately for the sake of the Pakistani people.”

Mr Jackson noted that Pakistan played a critical role in the region and the world. The will of the Pakistani people must be heeded so that Pakistan may move forward.

Mr Jackson’s son Jesse Jackson, Jr., is co-chairman of Barack Obama’s presidential campaign.

Re: Jackson urges Musharraf to resign immediately

the rev. has spoken!!

His son may be the co-chair of Obama’s presidential campaign, but Jackson Sr (who made this statement), just a few days ago, on national television expressed his views that he wants to chop off the balls of Obama. So I would venture a guess that Jesse Jackson Sr may not be speaking for Obama when he made these statements. :hehe:

This is merely to set the record straight in terms of insinuations that Jackson statements should be treated as virtually from Obama campaign. Its possible that Obama also shares similar views, but unless he, or someone from his campaign say so, its speculative. Except Bush, no democratic leader would want to come out in favor of a dictator, anyway.
