Jaag Punjabi jaag

Will this slogan be sold by PML(N) in coming elections against PPP? Perhaps not this time they will be struggling against PTI of Imran Khan Niazi which is again a Punjabi party.

Jaag Punjabi jaag It was a priceless line, coming from one of the most powerful politicians in the Punjab. Speaking to *BBC?s *?Newshour? in the aftermath of Data Darbar?s bombing, Punjab Chief Minister Mian Shahbaz Sharif said he thinks the term Punjabi Taliban is: ?an insult to the Punjabis, because we never say Pukhtun Taliban, Sindhi Taliban or Baloch Taliban.? He went on to say that it was a term coined by Federal Interior Minister Rehman Malik and that he condemned him for it.

Does he really believe that? Can you really believe that he actually thinks this? His statement brought back an odd memory from a couple of years ago. It was a private conversation so I cannot name the lady, who is a close personal friend of Shahbaz Sharif. ?Aamer?, she said, ?I cannot really understand people who think Shahbaz Sharif is an ordinary person. He comes from an extremely conservative, deeply religious background and is heir to a financial and political empire. Yet, at the risk of losing all that, he took on his entire family to marry a woman who is the most controversial female author in the country?s history. You think any ordinary man can do that?? I did not disagree with her and murmured something to the effect that I am keen to see his personal radicalism creep into his political life. But his statement about Punjabi Taliban is evidence that we are unlikely to see that happen. Admittedly, Mr Sharif carries a heavy burden dating back to his party?s birth. The Muslim League that he heads today sprang from the womb of the Islami Jamhoori Ittehad, an amalgam of several religious groupings and secular political non-entities that were all ideologically dominated by the Jamaat-i-Islami (JI).

The original political base that his party commanded in its battles against Benazir Bhutto?s PPP rested mostly in the conservative trading and merchant class, transporters, petty bureaucracy and a conservative urban financial elite spawned by General Zia?s long, dark years.

Many believe that had it not been for the former JI chief Qazi Hussain Ahmed?s infatuation with turning it into a people-based populist party, the Jamaat would still have been holding the Muslim League?s ideological reins. The Muslim League?s organic link to religious conservatism may have weakened after the death of Mian Sharif, more popularly known as ?Abbaji?. But it is proving to be a stubbornly tough umbilical cord to sever.

A clean break in this umbilical connection is exactly what the country needs to break free. It is important because Punjab matters. It may be unpalatable for the smaller provinces, but Punjab alone has the numbers and the political power to stand up to radical Islam. And until something really dramatic happens, the Sharifs alone can fire up the province to say no to uncounted mass murderers or mini-Osamas running amok.

When the Sharifs returned to power in 1997 with their legendary heavy mandate, many analysts and columnists flirted with the idea that they could be the vanguard of a moderately religious if not secular, urban middle-class political wave that would sweep aside sectarianism which, in the pre-9/11 world, was the major religious scourge known to Pakistan. The Taliban at the time were busy fighting for Kabul.

Of course these flirtations came to a sorry end when Nawaz Sharif started toying with the idea of becoming Amirul Muslimeen. But they were revived again when the brothers returned from exile, sworn to wresting Pakistan?s political control away from the military. Nawaz Sharif was the born-again democrat and Mr Principles. Many felt that between his new-found relationship with Benazir Bhutto, his commitment to charter of democracy and his hatred for military rulers, he, along with his brother, have finally acquired the vision to lead Pakistan out of the muck that repeated military rule had led it into.

Sadly, that vision is nowhere in sight. The Pakistani state has used radical Islam as a weapon of war for over a quarter of a century. It now needs to swing completely the other way. And that cannot happen for as long as the likes of Shahbaz Sharif continue to believe that it is Rehman Malik, and not the Punjabi Taliban, that is tearing Pakistan apart.

Stop hating, Punjabi parties are lit. You’re just salty cause you don’t get invited.

I hate when retard comments without being understanding what is actually said and what is filtered through such brains.

From what I know, this slogan always works.

And here is how it will work this time. Situation will be same as 1988 elections. PML(N) will still come out as the major party in Punjab, nothing can stop that.

But in federal govt it’ll be PTI and PPP alongwith minions like PML(Q), PSP etc to form a govt. All the kingmakers are united on a single punch line i.e. Anything but Nawaz.

Will this whole thing work inlong-term? Thats a whole different debate.

If that is the case why do you think PPP or PTI will form the government at center. If PML(N) wins in Punjab it is by default it will win in the center. Unless people of Punjab are divided between PTI and PPP. then it will be hung parliament.

No PML(N) wont take like 100% seats. If it even takes 60% of Punjab seats only where will it get rest of it from? PTI will get from KPK, Punjab, a couple from Khi, few from Baluchistan. Rest it needs is some of PPP’s from Sind. Thats it.

And PPP needs that partnership desperately. It’ll hardly get few seats in Punjab or anywhere other than Sind.

Jaag Pujabi Jaag
Teri pug nau lag gaye aag

hanibal wont come to this thread

Dont worry, JI will have allies with everyone coming in power, be it ppp, pti or pmln!!!

Punjab and Haripur Hazara Region of KpK, Dera Ismail Khan may defect to MMA but it will be tough one!!! PMLN likely to win GT Road and Central Punjab!!!

Yes Punjab need to be divided for better administration, but it is people of Punjab to decide!!! Not people or parties having no mandate ( 2000 - 4000 votes out 250,000 is not a mandate) of Punjab!!!

Te bhangda pa

PTI won’t officially align with PPP after all the bad blood but there is always a chance that PMN-n / PPP forward block in Punjab and a forward block in sindh / “independents” work with PTI if the powers to be want it. This can work in the big tent of PTI as seen with past defections into PTI.

The powers such as China and Turkey are not in favor of IK, Imran Khan have already spilled the beans saying CPEC is not that good and he shall rely on Investments from over-seas Pakistanies!!! not a good sign for Chinese ( our only baaps left) OBOR project, so i dont think that Imran is even in the race, with America Divorced us AND pursuing action against us on all forums, last we want is make China unhappy!!! we have already lost Support of Saudi ( and reason we landed in Grey List) because the big mouth couldnt keep his mouth shut!!!

Pindi boys like him to make noise and that is on their tunes!!! but he have no personality to become PM!!!
His job likely to remain a Dharna guy!!!

Politically speaking, in 2013 when PTI was relatively more favorite, they only won 5 NA seats from Punjab, 2 By Imran Khan ( Mianwali and Pindi) one by Shafqat Mehmood in Lahore, One by Amjad Ali Khan @ Mianwali and Ghulam Ishaq Khakwani…

other than above most seats are lost with differences!!!

Now keeping the position of PTI in mind where they are not being able to hold rallies as they or any other party ( govt in waiting) should hold, reason the disastrous rally of 29th April where 80% crowd was imported from KPK, being Lahori, i know if Mall Road-Data Darbar is not jammed while rally at Yadgaar, then that ain’t a rally!!! even that Manzoor Pashteen was able to pull more local crowd at Mochi Gate rally, few days before IK’s rally!!!

The night mare followed Imran Khan/PTI in Karachi rally as well where they tried their best but was not able to pull reasonable support despite having plenty of time!!!

Last not least, in KP things are not rosy for PTI, they won 17 or 18 NA Seats from KPK, and yet IK is not being able to hold a jalsa in KP because he have nothing to show!!!

Imran had the passion but got used up in Dharna politics!!! it is time when all parties are showing there performance and PTI still have to bank on World Cup 92, SKCH and rosy dreams of future like 10 million jobs and 5 million houses in their 5 year tenure!!! speaks volume!!!

Punjab have always stood by the anti-establishment elements, be it Bhutto, His Daughter or Main Dictation nahi loonga wala Mian Sahib!!! while with est. Mian Nawaz Has to make 9 party alliance and still lost to PPP with all the support and Media on his side in 1988!!!

Today In Punjab, be it Northern, Central or Southern PMLN have both anti establishment mantra and Development work to sell!!! and PTI have got promises only!!!

So here is the equation, Shahbaz Sharif shall be heading the Federal Govt, he is acceptable candidate by Saudi, Turkey and China at any given time!! Yes the PmLn may not have the absolute majority they need to reverse verdict against Nawaz ( already lost in senate) but figure head would be N league, with Ashan Iqbal and Miftah Ismail on his side!!!

It had aligned in senate and most probably it will align with PPP in NA too. Most of the PTI men are either PML(N) or PPP. (Refer: Super Permanent Lotay Joining Imran Khan) The way N$ has gone against army and judiciary, it will be a miracle if PML(N) win 2018 elections. To me PTI is the most favorite to those who have absolute power. About 70 to 80% chances are that Imran Khan will form the government in center and in Punjab.

The people of Punjab do not believe in provincialism as they say we are not Punjabi we are Pakistani so do not raise such division making slogans. so it is our collective responsibility to promote Nationalism instead of promoting differences of languages and hatred.

That is not a fact. The slogan ‘jag Punjabi jag’ was created by PML(N) to eliminate PPP from Punjab. ISI played a big role in this. Read the fact how IJI was created. Asghar Khan’s case is coming up in the Sc for hearing by CJ soon on this.

Nawaz, two ex-generals put on notice in Asghar Khan case

LAHORE: The Supreme Court on Saturday issued notices to ex-army chief Gen Aslam Beg and former Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) director general Lt Gen Asad Durrani for their involvement in influencing the results of the 1990 general elections and 19 others including former premier Nawaz Sharif and senior politicians Javed Hashmi, Abida Hussain and Ghulam Mustafa Khar.
