Kashmiri youth in India have all the opportunities available to youth from other parts of the country, but this militant mother is ruining the career of a budding cricketer. I guess she would rather have him become a terrorist.

J-K militant mother bowls out son’s cricket dreams

Srinagar: Mohammed Bin Qasim has been selected as a member of Jammu & Kashmir under-16 team to play in the Vijay Merchant Trophy tournament 2009.

Qasim is desperate to play ut his mother Asiya Andrabi, the head of the radical Islamic women’s outfit Dukhtaran-I-Millat, is not ready to let her son represent the Jammu & Kashmir team.

“Your name is Mohammed Bin Qasim and I want to see you as Mohammed Bin Qasim. So you have to live your life which will be for a greater cause, just not for a ball and bat,” says Andrabi.

Andrabi told Qasim that he should not play for a country his parents were fighting against.

Instead she wants to send him to a religious seminary after he finishes school but her son’s priorities lie elsewhere.

“I met my mother in Central jail and I told her let me play only one national. It’s my dream come true. If you don’t allow me to play the whole national juts let me play one national. But they did not allow me. They told me it is not the motive, it is not the aim of your life,” says Qasim.

As a two-month old, Qasim had spent some time in jail along with his mother. Qasim’s father, Muhammad Qasim Fuktoo, a militant commander, has been in prison since 1994. The parents believe Qasim would appreciate their decision when he grows up.

“Islam has given us total code of conduct. I have been teaching this to my son. you can play a game, you can play cricket but not as a career,” says his mother.

But for now, Qasim is too much in love with cricket to see all that.

Same oppurtunities as youth from other parts of what country? They arent Indian, and they cant come to Pakistan without being killed by Indian terrorists, so what country are you talking about?

Who are you kidding with this idiotic article. The mother of this boy is smart enough and brave enough to understand that one should never expect much from the enemy. Especially an enemy as evil as the murderous as the blood thirsty Indians that occupy their land.
I applaud the mother of this young boy for not allowing her son to be lead astray, and thus honoring all those who died in the struggle again Indian oppresion.

The mother of this boy is a militant who is in prison. She has a couple of choices - have her child lead the life of a peaceful citizen of India with all the rights and obligations or have him become a terrorist. She is obviously leaning towards the latter. India has not denied him any opportunities, but she has.

Tomorrow if this boy is killed by security forces, while carrying out anti-India activities she will be solely responsible.

Your army is killing these people on aregular basis, turning them into animals in their own state, and denying them eben the basic of human rights, and you want him to accept this?

Would you also give the same advice to Jews in nazi Germany? Perhaos you Indians yourselves could have learned to live in peace under british rule..

Fact is, Indians are occyupying KASHMIR, and Kashmiris will continue to struggle for their freedom.

Perhaps when India leaves., the boy can play for an independant KASHMIR STATE OR WHO KNOWS, MAYBE EVEN FOR pakistan.

Personally I think Pakistan should offer contracts to up and coming KASHMIRIS, all the have to do is sneack acroos the loc and we would welcome them into our team as guest players from occupied KASHMIR.

With the current state the Pakistani Cricket team is in, this would be a good option. Good to give them contracts to play rather than give them the contracts to kill.

Another post of wishfull thinking … this is what happens when you are not in touch with reality.

Check here … now people visiting Kashmir from Muzaffarabad refuse to go back … :D. This is in continuation of a number of Kashmiri’s returning to Kashmir from Pakistani Kashmir. Guess the Kashmiri’s prefer the “treatment” by Indian’s then stay in Pakistan … well the Kashmiri’s have spoken..

Five passengers traveling to the valley from Muzaffarabad on the peace bus have refused to back, and today approached the state high court for grant of citizenship.
Claiming that they had been born on this side of the Line of Control, the five passengers, including a woman, have begun a legal battle to stay on in the valley, and have filed an application before the high court, asking it to direct the government to grant them rights of citizenship

This just goes to prove that despite the incessant propaganda about how “Azad” POK is and how badly India treats the Kashmiris, they would rather stay in India as Indian citizens than be in Pakistan.

First Adnan Sami asked for Indian citizenship, now these Kashmiris. Just wondering if this the start of a reverse exodus :stuck_out_tongue:

Asiya Andrabi (the boy's mother) is given to making provocative statements that in other contexts would be deemed misogynistic, intolerant, and even hate speech. She is also in the manner of Wahabi Islamic fundamentalists everywhere given to absurd claims such as being an Arab, and expressing bizarre sentiments such as acceptance of polygamy.

Some of her choicest quotes:

I don't believe in Kashmiriyat, I don't believe in nationalism. I believe there are two nations - Muslims and non-Muslims.

I'm Andrabi, I'm from the Syed dynasty. I'm not actually Kashmiri, I'm Arab, my ancestors had come from Arabia to Central Asia.

I would be more than glad to share my house with other wives of Qasim (her husband)
Women look after the kitchen and men are supposed to work.

So much for Kashmiri freedom struggle ;)

andrabi is a jihadi nutcase who ran guns to shoot girls who wore jeans. i think if pakistanis have so much love for her, india should send her over to shoot their womens legs.

Every country has its cloudy days. India should know, half their history is filled with clouds over one place or another.

But ofcourse, Pakistan doesnt give anyone contracts "to kill"! Pakistan has given people a chance to live in freedom... Something Indians can bark about, but have no idea off otherwise.
