Okay, here’s a related anecdote.

In ancient Rome, women were used as a collateral for loans. Meaning If Mr A takes a loan from Mr B, then Mr A would give his wife to Mr B as a collateral.

This practice did not last long. There were two problems with it:

1. The collateral depreciated quickly.
2. The collateral sometimes refused to come back to the original borrower after the loan was repaid.
