I was watching this BBC program ‘What not to wear’, where these chicks give people makeovers and are supposedly fashion experts (seen them on Oprah a few times as well). So yesterday they said that one of their mantras is “don’t wear bright tops with black pants”. This left me confused and bewildered as I live in either black pants or jeans, and have often worn bright pinks with my black pants.
Re: I've just realised my biggest fashion faux-pas.
I think that you have to take anything that Trinny and Susannah say with a pinch of salt...and the 'no colour with black' rule is one of them. So we're just meant to wear all black from head to toe?
And it's not as if they get it right themselves all the time anyway. One of the duo is a member at my club and she can wear the most dodgy clothes off camera.

Oh really Shahreen? The one who's a bit bigger (always showing her bum to the camera) is pregnant isn't she? Is it her that comes to your gym?
I think they look really good 99% of the time though!
Well, I feel a bit relieved but I think they may be right, duller shades do look nicer with black, but I've noticed those girls love black themselves and always pair a black top and pants together.
Re: I’ve just realised my biggest fashion faux-pas.
Im wearing all black today
Bright tops look pretty good with jeans. With black I’m not too sure, The only bright top I have that I wear with black is pistachio colored.
Re: I've just realised my biggest fashion faux-pas.
I always wear hot pink with black dress pants ... but in the summer time, hot pinks and bright colours look a thousand times better with fitted white pants.
Re: I’ve just realised my biggest fashion faux-pas.
They were both pregnant at the same time and had their babies last year so I think you’re watching an old series. Unless she’s expecting another baby since.
Re: I've just realised my biggest fashion faux-pas.
Wear what looks good, if you want to emphasize the behind wear a lighter color, black adds toning and slimming visually, if the bossom needs more attention a brighter color does the work.
:)
Dark brown pants look great with peach and sea green tops~*~
Re: I've just realised my biggest fashion faux-pas.
i love black!!
catty, black sorta goes with everything.. but i think if u wanna go for a cool sophisticated look.. go with dull colours.. like mix greys and browns with it... or creamish tops.. even baby pinks!
i have no money ... otherwise id be on a spending spree right now.. so many nice colours are out these days!
Re: I’ve just realised my biggest fashion faux-pas.
Ladies, … bright colors with brown pants looks like so popsicle… Bright color Santana psychedelic top with Laxmi batik with camel color bell-bottoms (real wide) and Jesus sandals without socks look so sexy. A nice Afro to top it off, and you have my heart.
