OK I wrote it wrong…its IUI!!! and now I cant edit the topic name…can mods do that?

Anyone heard of this before?

I used to think it was the same as IVF, but apparently not!

Does anyone know someone who has conceived via this?

I have a friend who is undergoing this and has it done twice but has had no luck unfortunately…she becomes to tense to conceive the natural way and therefore has had to take this option…

what are the chances of conceiving like this?

IUI is Intra uterine Insemination. Vastly different and much less involved than IVF. The gal would bring a fresh sperm sample from her husband to the doc's office and they send it directly into the uterus thru a long thin tube inserted thru the cervix.

Chances of conception are good - probably about the same as regular conception on any given cycle - as long as there are no other issues.

Thanks guys....yes my friend becomes too tense so she becomes too tight from below...therefore her husband cant "get in"..for which reason the docs are trying to use this method.....otherwise shes normal from what I know

IUI/ Intra-Uterine Insemination (also known as Artificial Insemination) is an infertility treatment and is one of the simplest forms of assisted reproduction as you don't have to remove eggs and no fertilization is involved in the labs'. A small tube (catheter) is used to place 'cleaned' sperms from the male partner directly into the uterus and left to fertilize the egg(s) naturally.

IUI is easier than IVF - doesn't cost as much and it is really close to a natural conception. You just need a few treatments. It’s a great treatment to use for those couples who produce healthy sperms + eggs but have probs’ conceiving through copulation b/c of all sorts of probs' e.g. disability, erectile probs’, injury, ejactulation problems, low sperm count, thin cervical muscus, etc.

Chances of conceiving via IUI is said to be half than IVF though! Also there are various types of IUI e.g. IUI with Gonadotrophins, IUI with Clomiphene Citrate, Natural IUI (method above) and many others – so ask your friend to ask her Doc for more info' on this.

Has your friend consulted anyone about this? I think a psychologist or someone may be able to help her. There was this programme on TV last year, a girl was having similar problems and went for some sort of therapy where the psychologist actually really did manage to help her and she was cured. I hope she gets help bcos it should change her life!

Has she seen a Doctor just for this problem? Or has he...?! :)

Maybe someone should teach the husband how to be intimate instead of going straight for the gold, help her relax, some foreplay, some tenderness, there's a way to handle a woman, and it's not 'attacking' your wife.
