As far as I'm aware, most people think its permissible in Islam to have IUI and IVF using husbands sperm. If its using donor sperm, there's a general consensus that it is not according to Islam.
Its generally agreed I think that its acceptable in Islam. And it worked for me, I first tried just clomid. No luck. Then tried just injectibles (Gonal-F, Hcg trigger and then progesterone)...no luck. Then Injectibles with IUI and my son was conceived. And after his birth, I no longer needed fertility treatments, the next 2 were conceived naturally.
yes it's permissible in islam only if you are using your husband's sperm
my friend do this after a long time of her weding and now she has mashaallah 2 lovely kids
its just that with me, its been 3 years n no luck... doctors kept saying try naturally for a another year and 3 years went by, nothings happening...i've never used any contraception method.
i've just had a blood test on my 21st day in cycle to check reason for infertility...my hubby had a test aswell, dr says his test is all fine.
dr suggested we could possibly try IUI etc becoz im quite petite n weak aswell (also suffer from long term under active thyroid - not sure of thats the cause?) and my hubby's getting slightly overweight.
yeah, so we just getting really frustrated every month, when theres no luck...plus so much pressure from family n them desi aunties with all te small talk...which adds more stress to the situation.

Sparkle, are you actually being treated for your thyroid problems? Bcos thyroid problems affect fertility. Treat the thyroid, and it should improve your chances of conceiving, IA.
Is it acceptable in Islam, that if a woman cannot conceive due to her having fertility problems, that she may use a donor egg? Or is this not permissable and the couple should explore other avenues...??
Yes,both donor egg and sperm are haram. Islam places a really big importance on knowing your genetic parents, that's why even a child adopted from birth is not given his adoptive father's last name. I guess one loophole could be your hubby having a nikah with the egg donor, so that the child is considered 'legitimate' but I don't think any woman would agree to that.

Thanks for all the info guys,
my thyroid level is normal now.
i'v had problems in the past managing it, but now im only takin throxine 100mcg a day and doctor said it shudnt affect fertility as much.
i had my blood test result n doctor said there was no egg/not ovulating. although my periods were regular for past 6 months, i got the blood taken on exact 21st day of cycle. So we have to repeat the test for the next month. Then they cud decide whether to prescribe clomid or sumthing else. im not sure, has any1 on gs tried the ovulation home-kits sold at pharmacy stores?
No-one in the family has ever had problems re:infertility so they cant understand what to do next other than pressure us, i feel so naive at times but im so thankful to GS.
I used an ovulation kit a couple of times. It detects the surge of Lutenizing Hormone (LH) that is released just prior to release of the egg from the ovary. It works pretty well! And if no surge is detected, its very unlikely that theres an egg. If the surge IS detected, its possible and even probable that theres an egg but its not a guarantee....it just means that ovulation hormones are ok.

Sparkle, you and your hubby must boldly go where none of your family have been before! Try not to stress about it, stress is another thing that does NOT help you conceive.
You and your hubby should understand that things will now slow down to the pace that your doc's prescribe, be prepared to take things slowly, in steps. I do hope that everything works out for you and you have your babies ALL IN GOOD TIME, inshallah.
aww hope things wrk out for you! Your testings were fine and so was your hubby - so just have faith in God and leave it to him.
As RH said don't stress about it. You will be in for a good surprise once you stop stressing up. Just forget about this issue and try to be happy and relaxed!
Aww, thanks for all the support.
i'll try not to stress, but the whole situation is so new to us, feel abit scared what to expect next.
anyway, thanx gs...i feel alot confident now to facing these difficulties.
will keep you updated x
