IUD

I’ve been trying to find out more on this, but haven’t gotten much results from google. Who can help me out here?

Re: IUD

Do U mean Intra-uterine device ? Cuz IUD is used as an abbreviation for something else to in medical literature

Re: IUD

oh sorry didnt know that, yeah Im talking about the birth control.

.

Hey SkiTTleZ, you should really go to your family physician to ask questions of this nature - in order to receive the most reliable information. Many people on GS are clueless about these matters and it’s risky asking questions of this nature on a public forum. :halo:

Re: IUD

^Why is it risky??

I dont have time to go to a physician, I have a paper due on this for my class on human sexuality tomorrow :smack:

Re: IUD

Mirena is a newer form of IUD...I think its called IUR
But first Birth control thats 99.9 % effective.
Waise what was the question ? I mean for your paper...shouldn;t it be in Careers and Academics forum...some traffic there too pweez:@:

Re: IUD

lol there's no question... all the students (all 8 of us--very small class) had to pick a topic... everything from partial birth abortion to a youtube series called the silent scream to different methods of birth control... all teh good topics were already taken and I got stuck with this one. I basically have to research it and present it to the class... things like who should take it, how effective, side effects, FAQS etc etc

Re: IUD

Then pick Mirena…the latest and the greatest.

Keep Life Simple with Mirena® IUD contraception, including birth control and additional menstruation benefits

here is their ad

good info.

Re: IUD

If you're looking for an IUD, the best thing to do is talk to your doctor.

If you're looking for info..................Dr. Google comes highly recommended.

:)

Re: IUD

^My first post clearly states I haven’t been able to get much help from google. :chai: Most answers to questions here can be found on google as well… now go post that wisdom of urs in every thread.

P_Squared I dont agree with this POV. It's always good to ask questions from random people to get multiple opinions and experiences.

Asking questions to your doctor alone is not "best". Doctors have their own agendas. There is so much filth and greed goin on in the healthcare industry that I dont wanna disrupt my peace by eve talking about it. I am not saying it because I belong to a naturopathic world. This observaion is very objective.

People have every right to ask for natural wisdom, because sooner or later everyone will realize that natural way is The Way to go about health. It alligns with humans, the world , the ecology, the ecosystem.

And yes, you dont have to be a Doctor to transfer the wisdom of natural cures, and you dont need scientific studies to justify. Scientific research itself is a billion dollar business, it's greed driven more than anything. The wisdom of nature and natural living gets transfered from one generation to next. Thats how humans survived evolutionary.

Dont discourage people by saying things like, google it up, or ask your doctor. Let the knowledge flow, wherever it wants to land.

Hmmm...Im not sure I agree with this Restless...sorry.

A doctor is your safest bet...IMO. You're not asking for gharelo totkas.

An IUD is anything but natural...which is why you need a professioal opinion.

Regardless, good luck!

Its okay :). Disagreements are "Natural"

Re: IUD

Really SKittlez? I just did a simple search on IUD and IUD Contraceptive.

Official website for Mirena: Keep Life Simple with Mirena® IUD contraception, including birth control and additional menstruation benefits

More info: Intrauterine device - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

Additional info: Intrauterine device (IUD) for birth control

Hope you do well on your paper.

BonBon

Since it recently happened to me, I’d also like to add, please do some research on side effects of various contraceptive devices. I was on the Nuva Ring for almost a year, and though I loved the convenience, the side-effects were a disaster. I didn’t gain weight, but there are other issues that don’t hit you at first, because they sort of creep up on you. So please look into that as well. As for Mirena, truly there is quite a bit of info about it on the web. Here’s one link where women discuss their side-effects to Mirena:

SkiTTlez ... Since you asked, I will put in my two cents worth.

Any birth control method that interferes and manipulate your hormones is not good (not good is an understatement). The function of female hormones estrogen and progesterone is much more complex then we can ever imagine. Reproduction is only one of their numerous tasks.

When you take a pill, shot, intra-uterine devices that play around with your hormones, suppress one stimulate other, it disturbs the natural balance. Hormones have a divine wisdom, they know what to do and when to do it, you don’t wanna mess with them. Even non-hormonal IUDs are infact manipulating different hormones.

Every few days, the news makes the headline that a contraceptive is related to increased risk of heart disease, breast cancer, cervical cancer, fertility issues, etc. And yet we see a different contraceptive being promoted every few days through ads, hospitals, doctors, etc. I will tell you what the bottom line is, and you will be surprised to know that it’s not your safety. The bottom line is monaayyyyyy (money).

I will post some natural methods of avoiding pregnancy in few days. First I have to get my thoughts in order.

All of that aside, you have every right to disagree with me. I wont mind :) but I will not change my opinion.

Re: IUD

^ I do agree with ya there. You dont want to mess with your hormones. Its best to stay away from the Pill and whatnot as much as possible. Of course, in some cases if its prescribed there isnt much you can do about it.

My best friend had an IUD for over 4 years after two of her kids were born and recently had it removed because they want more children. Mashallah, she was fine and is pregnant right now. But not everyone is built like her...every situation is different.
