I was sent this query by another poster, and I was hoping you all could help out with some information.
Does anyone have experiences with or know someone who has experience with IUDs? The poster has already done the usual website search, but real life experiences would be helpful. What do you know or have you heard about this method? What about the health risks? Effectiveness? Any personal pros and cons you could share would be very helpful.
i don't know much but one of my friend got it inserted n she experienced irregularities in periods n very heavy flow, then she got some infection n got it out.right after she got preggo with her 5th kid :)and another colleague got some sort of thing inserted in her arm(forgot wat its called) n she was fine then after sometime she went thru various miscarriages one after another.
personally i'm just against all these things.they all hav one side effect or other.even pills r not completely harmless.but not everybody goes thru side effects.
My friend was having a really serious bleeding wiith it like 22 days of bleeding so she removed plus she had mood swings with that also.
Since her hubby is a doc he told her to not to use it anymore.
i kno many ppl who have used it and xperienced no problem - although many of them stopped having periods for a while but as soon as they had it taken out their normal cycle returned within a month or so - i've heard its one of d safest methods but can only be taken if you have have given child-birth. dats bout it...
there are different types, one with hormones and one without, the latter are not used as much. there are a number of complications and it is usually used by women in between pregnancies as they are still breastfeeding and don't want the pill, it can also give you lighter periods but it's efficacy is not as high as the pill. it can also get infected in a minority of cases.
it's better to talk to your GP or family planning clinic. you tell them your lifestyle and your needs and they will come up with an option most suitable for you.
Pros: HIGHLY EFFECTIVE, EASY TO USE..COST EFFECTIVE
Cons: some risk of pelvic infection after fews week of insertion(but not all the time), no protection againt STD and HIV (that will not be the case), can be expelled
I strongly recommend the COPPER IUD..last about 10 years (if u don't want to have anymore kids)..one of my aunti had it..she had no problems what so ever for about 9 years and now........ it's preety good.......she visited her obgyn every year and she had no side effects.......
Dear Faryat, Copper IUD is the safest, longacting contraceptive , effective and very convenient..it’s really powerful tool for women who don’t want to have kids anymore…i was also surprise at first how can it stays inside for up to 10 years..but when my aunt told me she also have this gift :)–it was a reality ckup for me…it is actually made up of flexible plastic and copper, shape like a T (sounds like I invented it :))
I had IUD for 2.5 yrs..
I never had any problems with it alhamdolillah.. Well sometimes it doesnt suit you, thats what my doctor said to me, that you can give it a try for 2 months if it doesnt suit you, you can come and get it out.
initially i had problem like prolonged periods, but doctor said its will take time to adjust.. Later it never gave me any problem…
I had it removed before i concieved my second child, and I didnt have any problem in conceiving again. alhamdolillAah
Now I am again thinking of having it placed…
if anyone asks me, I say.. go for it, if it suits you, its the best contraception option :k:
