Hi, I am scheduled for IUD insertion tomorrow ![]()
I’m scared to death
.Has anybody has that done? Any experiences? I googled the side effects and they are super scary ![]()
Re: IUD insertion
I had really bad cramps for the first 3 days, the 1st day was the worst with headaches and dizziness and spotting.. but once the body gets used to it (took me about 1-2weeks) you totally forget about it and don't even feel it's there :D
Re: IUD insertion
Thanks a lot Jhanjariya...I googled and had umpteen cases of weight gains, that totally freaked me out :(
Re: IUD insertion
that actually depends on the IUD you get.. i heard mirena and the hormonal based ones do that, but not for everyone.
Re: IUD insertion
My doc asked me to get Mirena, Did you notice any wt gain? Which one did your doc use?
Re: IUD insertion
no, i did not go with mirena.. i did some research and was also advised by a friend not to get that one.. so i went with my doctors brand called nova T, so far so good.
Re: IUD insertion
Mirena is pretty good regarding hormones since it releases them locally in the uterus - weight gain isn't huge. I don't know what to go for after my baby is here...I'm worried about getting pregnant again after an IUD and the problems that might arise. Anyone have any experience with conceiving after an IUD?
IUD insertion
I chickened out and cancelled my appointment sheepish grin
I got a panic attack just thinking of all the possible side effects. I have so much going on right now most importantly my sister' wedding.Planning for her wedding, dances, clothes and stuff that I can't take pressure of this stupid IUD :)
Will do it InshAllah once her Shadi is over :)
IUD insertion
I had the mirena for 3 yrs. the insertion was a very smooth process with minor cramping. I was good until 6 mths ago. I started breaking out very badly. No weight gain issues. I had it removed a month ago. But I miss it cuz it was the easiest and most convenient with least maintainence contraception method. I really wish my body would not react to it after all this time :(
My Bhabi also had it removed last month. She had it for abt 2 yrs but she was starting to get acne and she gained a lotta wieght.
Re: IUD insertion
Please do your research regarding Mirena,as hundreds of women have had really bad side effects mainly panic attacks, this is something that i suffered with myself and it was the worst period of my life.
Please do google" Mirena" and "panic attacks"
Re: IUD insertion
i need to research a lot before i plan to go again! these kind of side effects made me freak out!
Re: IUD insertion
what about copper IUD ? Anyone had any problems or side effects with that ?
I have my appointment next month for copper IUD.
Re: IUD insertion
I did a lot of reading and have decided to go ahead and give it a try.
Copper IUD can cause copper imbalance in some women which can cause anxiety/depression etc but then Minera also can cause hormonal imbalance. Paraguard will also increase menstrual bleeding.
I guess it is similar to bcp in that it may or may not suit some women.
Since I know it may cause anxiety/depression, I will be on a lookout and get it removed if I feel those symptoms. In my case it is covered by our insurance so I might as well give it a try.
Re: IUD insertion
I m very new to mirena.... had it couple of weeks ago... I talked to three docs and they all favored mirena somehow...insertion is painful but all the pain was gone the day after.... I was worried about the weight gain too but I'm hoping to keep it under control with exercise and diet...
..I don't know if it's just me or no but the day after the mirena I was eating like a pig for atleast 3days...Now from last 4 days my appetite has been decreased tremendously..I m literally forcing myself to eat ..is it mirena? Idontknow
Re: IUD insertion
haiii, too much hassle with everything. sticking to condoms, me.
Re: IUD insertion
I had paraguard (copper IUD) insertion. It was slightly uncomfortable but the process was so quick, it hardly took a minute.
Same process as pap but a little longer and cramps a little. May be I was expecting lots of pain so did not notice it that much .... or may be I have had other much worst pains so this cramp did not feel that bad.
If it stays this way, its awesome !!
my sil has marina for past three years. no issues. no periods as well.
met a lady who had marina and gained so much weight, nw after getting removed she still has 30kg plus extra weight.
another lady i know had it and choose to stay awake wen being inserted. told me she screamed days later too and eventually removed.

anesthesia is not needed to put IUD in.
