I went into "regedit", found that particular key that was giving problems and just deleted it. I then attempted to install QuickTime Standalone and it came up with ANOTHER error message for another HK_LOCAL_MACHINE QuickTime folder ... so I went in and deleted that as well from regedit.

I then tried AGAIN to install QuickTime Standalone ... and it came up with ANOTHER 'HK' problem, but this time it gave me the option to 'ignore' it ... so I chose 'ignore' and it installed properly! sigh

Three days of tension, headaches and drama. I will NEVER upload iTunes again.
