With a contant failure for last two years, this once super star is more than a burden on team’s balance. He is a waste of an important position that could be filled by other skilled openers waiting for their call.
The way he faces first ball and the following 4-5 balls he survives, is becoming a joke now. He plays like the khudda player in gali-mohalla cricket who hardly gets to bat at the end of the innings. Pure lack of confidence. Bowlers around the world are humiliating him by getting him out on his weak-point. And he has not worked to overcome his widely exposed weakness. Totally unprofessional approach. He is Farhat’s millionare cousin in some regards.
Its better to play Gambhir in Test and as well as ODI. Even if he ate up 50 balls and still makes 20 runs, that would be a very decent contribution in the early partnership, from today’s standards.
