Its just awkward..

Sometimes in life things don’t work out between 2 human beings. Usually they decide not to see each other again [thats what i have heard at least].
What to do when its a cousin/family friend?
I feel awkward going in front of those guys who asked for my hand from my parents… And i have rejected them  Even though i have absolutely nothing in my heart…but it just feels weird. Its like YUCK… I am not even sure if i suppose to have those sort of feelings.

Well lets see who can understand me here :~)

Nia :)

I perfectly understand ur point... well... its like same thin happened with me n my cuz... n hmmMmm .. i kinda told him no ... :-/ .. anyway.. so it was like at first it was weird seein him .. i used to avoid him as much as i can then i figured out i cant really... specially in family gatherings wagera .. at first i cant even make a sensible conversation with him .. our conversations got limited to 'ahan's n 'ji's n 'exactly' .... with the time it got better though.. n now as he's engaged n m married... it doesnt really matter any more... n we do talk like cousins once again... thats the way i like it too

understand completly :).. dont worry .. it works out.. like leez said ..time will change the awkwardness..

well said time will change the awkwardness :)
i too felt in same way as u nia sisy but it's over now ...so u need some time pirr u feel better .

if you adapt the completely traditional way.. then the kids usually dont know about these rishta things hence avoiding the akwardness.

When I was sent proposals from cousin my mom would just ask what I thought about certain people and probe and find out if I liked the cousin or not ... I didnt know until after my shaadi that some of my cousins had actually asked for my hand!!!!

So its cool.. and now it doesnt make a difference because we are all at a different level and the family is so strong that things like that cant hurt us.

Nia, time will make the awkwardness fade. Trust me. My phophi had asked for my rishta for her son, my cousin, when I was still in high school. I had said no. That was that. She had to live with it and so did her son. Today mash’allah he is happily married. Things always work out for the best. Nia, if there wasn’t anything in your heart for these guys to begin with, then don’t worry about. I hope though that you were a lady through and thorugh and didn’t make these guys feel “small” or anything due to you rejecting them.
