Very true. I believe this is often the case for honour killings, where the family just decides to forgive itself.
Re shariah law, some things are okay, some things are not. I wouldnt accept the notion of blood money for myself or my family, but its not my place to question a family’s decisions to accept it, and I have no principled reason to oppose it. Oh except of course the fact that the law is a legacy of a military dictator.
