Itr phulel karna

Itr (perfume).. I heard this ‘itr /atr phulel karna’ in Sindhi.. but read this in Mustansar Hussain Tarar"s novel ’ naat khwanon ne apni dhaRhiyan itr phulel ki hui thin’.

So what does this ‘phulel’ means? any idea?

you mean phelana? but phulel is being used as anouthernoun followed by verb karna

phhulel is verb for the noun “phhulerii” [ear swab]…ise 'itr meN diboo kar lagaane ke 'amal ko phhulel kahte haiN:

BTW never saw someone using this phulel for spreading itr on beard.... They do it with hands

Ear swab se itr lagana ?
Why don’t they put itr in spray kinda bottles…ta ki spray kr lain ?

itr bottle got ear swab like stick and they dip in itr and then apply it on hands before applying on clothes, etc… Itr is now available in perfume (spray) kind bottles. The term is quite old

itr is tooo thick to use as an spray…pahle ke zamaanoN meN ear swab kahaN hote the? vo rooii ke chhoTe se gaale par zaraa saa 'itr lagaa kar kapRoN par lagaate the taa k safed kapRoN par nishaan na paRe…merii daadii aise hii eid kii subHoi ko ham sab ke 'itr lagaayaa kartii thiiN namaaz par jaane se pahle.

One misconception is that rooh gulab itr was discovered by Nur Jahan. Actually it was the discovery of her mother Asmat Begum. According to Dr. R. Nath, Jahangir noted in his diary as follows: “I have regret for the Jahangiri itr (named after him) that my father (Akbar’s) nostrils were not gratified with such essences. This is a discovery which was made during my reign through the efforts of the mother of Nur Jahan Begum. When she was making rose-water, a scum formed on the dishes into which the hot rose-water was poured from the jugs…. She collected the scum little by little. It is of such strength in perfume that if one drop is rubbed on the palm of the hand, it scents a whole assembly and it appears as if many such rose-buds had bloomed at once. There is no other scent of equal excellence to it. It restores hearts that have gone (broken), and brings back withered souls. In reward for that invention, I presented a string of pearls to the inventress.”

isse to nahiiN magar aisii hii bottle ke Dhakkan meN salaaii kii taraH kii ek cheez lagii hotii hai jisse apply karte haiN magar usse bhii pahle rooii kaa ek chhoTaa saa gaalaa [small cotton ball called phulehrii] se lagaayaa karte the…phulehrii se choToN par iodine kaa tincture bhii lagaayaa jaataa thaa.

'itr to vaise, mardoN par hii zeb detaa hai! aurtoN ko 'atr lagaate nahiiN dekhaa…shaayad they need a stronger smell masker like western perfume!

ab roz nahaayeNgii nahiiN to aisa hii hogaa!

but there is complete range of itr.. from light to taiz smell… itr e gulab lost its smell as mentioned above by Jehangir (post 12) i.e. a drop was enough for an assembly

yes...in India, Qannauj in Uttar Pradesh, India is known for top class itr and i get mine from there...i use Sadaf [yes Sadaf ;)] which very mild and very nice.
