**This July I went to Italy. Earlier I posted Venice and Pisa pictures. Now its Rome’s turn. This thread is dedicated to the great Colosseum in Rome. **
Re: Italy Trip - Rome Colosseum
Spectacular! Was this a short quick trip as well or were you able to see more in detail? Like do they have hidden gladiator quarters accessible to tourists? Were you able to see any of the mock gladiator battles? Is there a tour guide that shows you around?

There was some work going on the middle part of the arena, where gladiators were kept underground before sending them to the battles. That part was not accessible. There were no mock battles but plenty of mock gladiators outside to take photos with (useless). Also many guides available outside, you can talk to them and negotiate prices. I've never used any in my travels so far.

Re: Italy Trip - Rome Colosseum
Wow its awesome.
you ve spent quit a lot of time there ( day & night pictures )
Re: Italy Trip - Rome Colosseum
Thanks. I have Nikon D90. If you already have a DSLR then the best suggestion is to go out and take pictures :D. It’s obvious but take one lens and use it extensively.

Re: Italy Trip - Rome Colosseum
Great pics. Arrived circa 7 pm. Checked in and walked/ran to coliseum from hotel. There were lots of nice places along the way. Reached colloseum 9 PM or so. Walked around it. Huge. Lots of other places nearby. Next morning took tour bus. Went to colloseum first. Long line. There was a tour that would have I think avoided this long line. That tour had shorter line. Would have explained details. Wish had taken that. Roamed around clueless for a while. Cell phone charger had lost earlier in another town. So no pictures. After that the bus took us to I think Venice where Pope lives. That.was bonus. Had no idea venice was close by. Walked around. Then confusion. The bus had stopped running by then. Or had a stop in a different place. Took train back to hotel location. Wish had more time to enjoy. Hated the hurry hurry part.

A friend recently visited Italy and his Bag containg money and passport was stolen in Train, another went by car and his car was broken in and they took everything including cloths. So be aware of this when you are visiting.
Re: Italy Trip - Rome Colosseum
Bus took you to Vatican, not Venice! Venice is 4hrs by train from Rome and is the city on canals.
