Italian fascist dump Korean Hero

Excuses .. Excuses … Italians have no dignity in loss .. Cant except the fact that they got beat .. Sour grapes … Mama Mia … mommy mommy hide me from Hwan http://news.bbc.co.uk/sport3/worldcup2002/hi/team_pages/south_korea/newsid_2054000/2054072.stm
Perugia dump Korean hero

Ahn Jung-Hwan’s goal sent Italy packing

Perugia president Luciano Gaucci said his club’s decision to sack South Korea’s Ahn Jung-Hwan was not for dumping Italy out of the World Cup but for his offensive remarks afterwards.
Gaucci denied the club’s decision had been made before the finals, or that it was linked to Ahn’s decisive goal.

He insisted it was purely for comments “offensive to me and the whole Italian nation”.

Ahn scored the ‘golden goal’ winner as Korea beat Italy 2-1 to knock their more illustrious opponents out of the tournament.

I feel offended by what he said - he should respect other nations as well as his own

Perugia president Luciano Gaucci

“It has nothing to do with the goal he scored against Italy,” said Gaucci.

“He could have scored 10 and I wouldn’t have felt offended. It was simply the comments he made.”

"He said Korean football was superior to Italian football, when Italy is a footballing nation.

"We have treated him well with all our love, but his comments were offensive to me and to the whole Italian nation.

“I feel offended by what he said. He should respect other nations as well as his own.”

Ahn missed a penalty earlier in the match but he was hailed as a national hero in Korea when his 116th-minute header set up a quarter-final with Spain.

Your say: How far can Korea go?

Ahn Jung-Hwan has struggled in Italy

Gaucci earlier told Italian sports daily La Gazzetta dello Sport: "That gentleman will never set foot in Perugia again.

"He was a phenomenon only when he played against Italy.

"I am a nationalist and I regard such behaviour not only as an affront to Italian pride but also an offence to a country which two years ago opened its doors to him.

Player profile: Ahn Jung-Hwan
“I have no intention of paying a salary to someone who has ruined Italian soccer.”

Ahn Jung-Hwan joined Perugia on loan from the South Korean team Pusan Icons in the summer of 2000, but he scored just five goals in 29 appearances.

Korea’s victory has been greeted with fury in Italy, where the referee and soccer’s ruling body Fifa have been accused of fixing the match.

Even before scoring his goal, Ahn Jung-Hwan, with his model looks, was a huge celebrity in Korea, the closest thing the Koreans have to David Beckham.

He is married to a former Miss Korea, Lee Hye-Won.

Hey one more thing
These things are hard to explain
For some it seems strange… to swallow
The frontier of our minds
Is the last place we find
But maybe the first place we should go

First of all he was not "dumped", his contract at Perugia is over and will not be renewed now, because of his offensive comments against Italian football.

If Italians were such cry babies the same fate would have met French international David Trezeguet who scored a golden goal against the Italians in Euro 2000 Final in Holland, and went on to play for Juventus right after the championship, and still plays there.

I think it were his remarks that made Perugia president make this decision

I don't want to achieve immortality through my work... I want to achieve it through not dying.

Italians should definitely get ‘first place’ in the competition for biggest cry-baby losers!!

And for his commenst all he said was ‘S.Korean football is better than Italian’, comin after S.Korea just beat them, I hardly think this comment is outrageous.

Italians just can’t take it, sore, sorry losers.

And Trezugiut episode is a whole different story! Not comparable.

Thats the most stupid thing I have ever heard and I think this is racism and/or over patriotism

Sorry to say this but Italy had won the match before Korea did. They were cheated out of the world cup. I am not Italian nor they were the team i was supporting to win the cup but thats what I felt.

I have been criticizing the referees the whole tournament long and still ill say the second yellow was not to be given.
But then I think SOuth Korea totally deserved to win and if a team like Italy can't scored enough goals and only sit back and go on counter attacks then no wonder they are out. As happened to other good Teams.

Fantastic1, regardless of what happened the outburst of the Italians against the Koreans is unjustified and smacks of racism. Ali is right if you cant score goals, you pay the penalty.

I feel sorry for the Italians! during the entire tournament (false) refereeing decisions were against them. And eventually it cost them their WC

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/nook.gif

about the player Ahn: I found it funny/surprising when i read it, but then again u CAN expect such thing from Italians…

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/biggrin.gif

If you are going to talk about bad ref calls, you are going to have to change the whole history of the World Cup, not just this one.

If all your moves are stopped by bad refreeing what can u do? They scored the golden goal first too

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/tongue.gif

Only the player was wrongly off sided.
And in how many of the 2nd round matches more than 1 goal has been scored by one team in the aloted time???

Such out bursts by players are neither anything new nor un-common. Italians aren’t the only ones doing that.

In any case its my personal opinion that they were cheated out of the world cup others ofcourse don’t have to agree with that.

I have to agree with Fanta here, Italians clearly won the game, I think it was Totti who was called for offside before he was on his way to score a definite goal, Italy should have definatley won.
As for Ahn remarks, that chin needs to get a reality check, Koreans better than Italians, my a$$.
Win couple matches in front of their homecrowd and Korea is better than Italy, not in 2000 years.

If Italy can lose when they played at home then South Korea can as well.
The 12 man or not Italy should have done more not just relaxing on one goal.
The counter tactic has been applied by many teams in this tournament, but most of them forgot that the execution is not always a proper one. ONe has to train this it's not a talent that a team has when it's been created.

Fanta, a goal or two disallowed or not if a teams wants to become WC it has to show more of its shooting ability and I'm pretty sure it was more tactics than their lacking of scoring goals.
YOu dont score you pay the price that's what USA has to feel as well.
Germans had first chance and see there they scored. That's how you win WCs.

Fanta is right, the Italians must have had 5 perfectly good goals disallowed in this competition in the time they were there. It's just not good enough. Even so, it was pathetic for the Perugia President to make such ill-considered remarks.

Italians are in cry baby mode!Everyone is entitled to their own opinions, all he said korean football is superior, alright he was wrong but it wasnt something to cry about..

Well maybe you guys are forgetting how Italians attack, they are bound to commit offsides..except for one or two decsions..The offside decisions were fully justififed..Its easy to cry and claim five or 10 goals were disallowed..they commited clear offises numerous times and their game play was very dissappointing too, only high profile million dollar players with no solid performance!

I dont see how Ahn's comments can be deemed offensive, Italy may be footballing nation, for all I care roman gods could come on the field and play it, but when Korea wins, the players have a complete right to say that their football is superior to Italian football..maybe only on that day..but that is the day we are talking about.

When we say that the better team won after a match, it is not to say which team is better overall or has a better legacy, but the team that played better, won it.

This ultra-nationalism approach in some quarters is really annoying..sadly supporters of some of my fav teams display that attitude.

booooooooooooooo to the Italians

http://www3.pak.org/gupshup/smilies/nook.gif

They deserved what they got!

And I was totally for the Italian Team during the match, but after hearing these news I think its serves em right that they lost, their ego is way to high.

Italians are just fools, they never play good, they really suxed when they played Korea. I still remember there game against Brazil in 1994 man they sux
