Shawn Ahmed, an average dude of bangladeshi descent from Notre Dame, is making great use of the power of youtube to make people’s dreams come true in areas most stricken with poverty in Bangladesh.

I was a grad student at Notre Dame. Then I heard Dr. Jeffrey Sachs (author of the book “The End of Poverty”) talk about how it’s our generation’s responsibility to end poverty.

I withdrew from grad school, packed my bags, grabbed a laptop & camcorder, and flew to Bangladesh (where my parents were born) to see how I could make a difference.

In over three years, the YouTube community has helped me rebuild a school, provide scholarships, disaster relief, food, clean water, school supplies, and much more in both Bangladesh & around the world.

This isn’t a formal charity - I just do this as an individual with the support of the YouTube community. “Uncultured” is a reference to me - not the people I’m helping.

Hats off to him!
