If so, what specifically, and how? Does you job and it’s hours allow you to do it? Are you serious about it (have a business registered, do business cards, business account, etc), or is this just a cash based thing you do on weekends when you feel like it?
Re: IT People: Do you do work on the side?
Me n bhai started a company of our own last year along with our jobs. It provides audit/compliance/governance/IT security services. It’s still kinda niche market so me n bhai thought 2 go 4 it instead of the regular software development n consultant providing venture. It’s registered and
seems promising by far, got a couple of clients. Last year we had 2 hire some consultants 2 provide the services coz obviously we have got our own jobs. This year we have applied for H1-B visas and keeping our fingers crossed 4 it.
Re: IT People: Do you do work on the side?
errr so what visa are you on right now?
Re: IT People: Do you do work on the side?
Wow, that’s a lot of work your company does. But how do you do this along with your regular job? Obviously you hired people now, but how about when you started?
Re: IT People: Do you do work on the side?
I work full time as Network Administrator / Director of Educational Technology plus have a registered company (LLC) on the side for web development/IT services and about 7+ websites that I own/run and many under development.
Re: IT People: Do you do work on the side?
Jaan Leva, that's great to hear. Some more details, how you manage it, did you hire other people to do the consulting part, etc.
Re: IT People: Do you do work on the side?
The management part is kinda tricky... I do everything by my self but when it comes to advance web development and coding, I have few friends I've partnered with in Pakistan and UK who take the load and its cheaper as well for both the customer and my self.
I do not have any employees / people that work for me here in the US.
Re: IT People: Do you do work on the side?
I have been doing that for last 4 years now.
Do software development on the side as freelance developer for various companies. I have a proper website, portfolio, network and established clients. It takes a bit of an effort to get things rolling and i have made my share of mistakes in quoting time/budgets but i learned my lessons quickly :)
Re: IT People: Do you do work on the side?
I started out my current online marketing business as a part time consulting job when I had a full time job. After a year I decided to go solo.
Re: IT People: Do you do work on the side?
TeenDabbyWala, I tried responding back but this forum wouldn't let a new comer post PM. So responding here.
Yes, you can send it.
Re: IT People: Do you do work on the side?
I have stated launching niche websites last year, seem to be doing good. I am working on many more so I put lot of my free time in cooking the ideas and then others cook those sites for me. This seem to be ideal solution as you do not have to go out to get things done.
Re: IT People: Do you do work on the side?
Off topic, but you are too curious Teendabbywalay! MashAllah!
