Re: It feels so wrong, so nasty, so dirty…

Yea I’ve always wondered why Brits can’t say the letter “r” :stuck_out_tongue:

all that comes out it “aah” hahahhah :hehe:

Re: It feels so wrong, so nasty, so dirty…

Because the letter is only supposed to be strongly pronounced when at the start of a sentence, or when it directly follows a consonant. Otherwise, it is supposed to be a soft sound, much as how “G” is soft when followed by “H”.

Remember, the language is called “English”. It is clearly supposed to be spoken how English people speak it, because it is their language.

Re: It feels so wrong, so nasty, so dirty....

^ oorrrrr maybe it was corrupted from the very beginning because Englishmen used to have insane drinking problems back then, therefore once they came to America, ounki zubaan seedii hogayee thee :p

Re: It feels so wrong, so nasty, so dirty…

Re: It feels so wrong, so nasty, so dirty…

I have nothing against the british accent, really i just like messing with people that have it. When it comes to language, there’s more than one way of pronouncing things.

:halo:

Re: It feels so wrong, so nasty, so dirty…

Holy crap!!!

I just did some reasearch and you’re right!!!

It’s british english that has evolved… apparently American english is believed to more similar in sound profile to 17th century English english than modern English english is

As the British english accent evolved over time, only those communities in extensive trading contact with Britain, the Eastern New England towns and cities, evolved their accent to match Britain.

Throughout the rest of the USA, where people did not have contact with Britain, they kept to the old English accents.
