I’m in the process of applying to sponsor my mother in law for a visit to UK. We recieved a copy of her passport today that said her date of birth is 1957 which makes her 49. My husband is 36 so that would make her 13 when she had him. It doesnt make sense. We havent spoken to her yet but I was just wondering if anyone here could clarify that it would definitely be correct if its on her passport. Do they have to show a birth certificate to get a passport? Do they register all births there?
I know a lot of people in Pakistan where I come from dont even know their date of birth.
Re: it cant be right surely
No birth certificates at that time in Pakistan, specially in smaller cities.
And my grandmother was 14 when she gave birth to my Taya, who is now 66 years of age.
Re: it cant be right surely
Anybody else got anything more to add?
Re: it cant be right surely
Are you sure she wasn't 13 when she had him?
Re: it cant be right surely
Yes maybe she really was 13 when she gave birth to him. I think you need an ID card when apply for a passport. I don;t know about now but earlier the ID system was not all fool-proof and ppl have had inccorrect DOB’s put on their IDs. I have cousins who are older than me but their ID’s show them atleast a couple of years younger ![]()
