It ain't over till it's over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

Re: It ain't over till it's over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

My point is not a comparison. My point is this that S3 (and other high end smart phones) should be designed with business travelers in mind.

Re: It ain't over till it's over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

Yes, agreed! Hopefully that's something they will work on for next generation of the phones because without battery phone is useless.

Re: It ain’t over till it’s over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

The best thing about S3 is that you can replace batteries. So business man or otherwise you can pop 2 spare batteries (total cost $10) in your pockets (one on each side, for balance, warna bolay ga gol gol ghoom raha tha) and your phone would last for multiple days. Baat khatam, paisa hazam.
Now we can close this thread! :hehe:

Re: It ain’t over till it’s over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

:hehe: I have yet to order the batteries - this reminds me I should but also that I haven’t had to worry about dead battery thus far.

Re: It ain't over till it's over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

and btw, for that matter, you can carry a battery pack for IP5 also. Carrying extra batteries is not the point here. having batteries designed for 24 hours at least is the point.

Re: It ain’t over till it’s over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

So this shows that i5 users are more prone to click on ads? Its not very clear what they are doing.

Re: It ain't over till it's over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

Love this thread. My problem is not with the device, for me the comparison is of the OS. The iPhone hardware is truly beautiful and just feels great in your hand. The iPhone 5 screen size is perfect while the Galaxy SIII screen is way too big. These huge screen sizes are getting out of control.

My problem is with ios. The Android OS is FAR superior. Here are my likes and dislikes about the two OSs:

  • The iOS mapping application sucks, they should never have gotten rid of google maps, that was a dumb move.
  • Even with its rubbish mapping software, iOS is only NOW getting turn by turn navigation, Android has had it for years.
  • Until iOS 6, you couldn't add an attachment to an email from within the email compose screen, I mean that's BASIC EMAIL functionality. Android has a very good out of the box Email client.
  • iOS STILL doesn't do any widgets. Android has proven that widgets with live data icons and shortcuts to tasks and functions are VERY useful, data and functions readily available.
  • With iOS, to toggle off/on wireless or bluetooth or airplane mode, you have to go through multiple screens, all Android devices have widgets to do this very easy and very common task.
  • Syncing music/pictures/videos with an iOS device is a pain because you HAVE to go through iTunes. With my Android device, I plug it into my laptop and it shows up as an external drive, drag/drop, done.
  • Apple makes everything HARDER in the name of trying to make things easy. Apple wants you to do everything they way THEY think you should do things, they don't want you to have your OWN way of doing things so if you don't conform to their methods, things don't work.
  • The one pro for iOS is that when a new update comes out, all devices get them at the same time, even older iPhone 3GS devices work well with the latest iOS6. With Android, BECAUSE of so many manufacturers, each update has to be vetted by the manufacturer and the carrier so not all devices get the software updates at the same cadence, which is really frustrating.
  • iPhones use a proprietary charging/data cable which is typical Apple mentality, everything has to be proprietary and non-standard. All Android devices use micro USB, so if I forget my charger, I can borrow my friend's charger who has a different make/model phone. Oh and I can use the same cable to transfer data.

THere are probably more.

It breaks my heart everytime I see a BMW M3 being driven by a 65 year old chinese aunti who can't tell between the left and the right indicator :(

Usman, I’m the one who’s been talking. :smack: Why u no say sumthin’?

Great points aahmed!

:hehe:

Re: It ain't over till it's over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

No one denied that, ofcourse ip5 users can carry an extra battery too. You said yourself you weren't comparing with iphone earlier as you haven't had the same experience of carrying an iphone4/5 on such trips. So, how do you know it would've lasted you longer? Bottom line is smartphones in general (not just S3 or iphones) don't have a long enough battery life.

Re: It ain't over till it's over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

It would be cool to have a battery life that long, but perhaps that technology is being worked on for the future. But until then, we do have our faithful chargers and spares to carry around.

Re: It ain’t over till it’s over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

Agree with all the points good and bad. (see I’m not biased :snooty:)

Re: It ain't over till it's over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

  • Drag and Drop may give you ease, but the control that iTunes gives you is unmatchable. Try to download bunch of songs from any mp3 site and try to batch edit them to change their name or artist or to group them in certain way in windows' native environment and very soon you realize how powerful iTunes is. Its not just drag and drop, but later on listening to those songs in some arranged fashion. Itunes let you do that ahead of time. PLus, to me, syncing is more easy (that itunes does) than drag and drop (that you have to do it Android). Syncing is one time pain and then you are all set. Drag and Drop needs to be done again and again, every time you have something new.
  • If I dont conform to my S3 methods, things dont work either. No matter how we look at it, for a novice, Android phones are as closed of a device as iOS, and for experts, both can be rooted/jailbroken/unlocked.
  • This is a misconception again. My Nexus 7 charger does not fit into my S3. Yes S2 charger will fit S3 but then 3GS charger fits 4S too.

Re: It ain’t over till it’s over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

Actually iTunes is so not-user friendly. I think I’m very good with tech () and learning, and having used all iPhones up until the 4S, and my MacAir, I seriously haven’t been able to deal with iTunes’ mood swings

I think it’s very annoying that if I want to add songs to my playlist, I have to have to go via iTunes.

Re: It ain’t over till it’s over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

Its because you never tried to learn Itunes :smack:

Itunes is a very powerful media management app. There is almost nothing like that out there. I mean when you have an MP3 file on your computer, instead of dragging it to Android phone, just drag it to itune media library folder. Its the same drag. I fail to see the difference here. Yes that means that I have to have Itunes installed on my computer, but its pain to manage your music once its on your device so better manage it before you upload it.

You have to admit that that arranged music that you have on your S3 was pre-arranged through itunes, or it would be a mess. Now google came up with Google Play so you can manage your media. Itunes has been doing that for years.

Re: It ain’t over till it’s over: iPhone 5 vs. Galaxy S3

Arrey, I use iTunes on my Mac every day :smack:. It’s very irritating :snooty:. So I’ve started using Google Play on my Mac too. :@:

Yes yes, all my songs were prearranged nicely with covers and all in iTunes. But I’ve since added more music via Google Play and it does the same thing. Well no denying it’s a powerful app, it’s been around and has stuck. I just find it annoying abhi tak. But that could be my inner Googleness talking, I admit. :o
