We can add a ton of things to your list then, like those who don’t pray, who do zina, drink, eat haram, don’t pay zakaat, don’t do Hajj when they have the means. I’m sure we can come up with many many more things there. In terms of being rude or disagreeable, I’m sure that for every person, there will be someone who thinks this about them. I’ve never heard of anyone thinking a black cat crossing their path is a sign of anything, especially from an Islamic perspective. Being born and raised in the West, I’ve always understood it to be a concept local to the West and not something in our religion/culture.

A phone call at the right time, which was then a means to for someone facilitate their decision and thereafter be content with it can definitely be a valid sign from the Istikhara. I would therefore be more inclined to believe the judgement of the person who made that Istikhara than yours, especially if the greatest flaw you can accuse them of is being rude and disagreeable.

The fastest istikhara response that I received was through a phone call, and that too, from a friend who never calls. She had the answers to the exact questions that were plaguing my mind. That phone call came right when I was making my istikhara dua. I have a tendency to over-analyze and that can make me indecisive. I was under a lot of stress and I made dua to Allah that He give me such clear guidance that even my over-analytical mind won’t waiver. I got exactly that. I was able to reach a decision in seconds and I have no regrets.

A friend of mine was undecided about whether she should have a child or focus on her career. There was no shortage of people in her life to guide her: her husband, her parents, her siblings, her friends, her in-laws, etc etc. Still, she couldn’t decide. She did istikhara and she got her sign from a line she came across in a magazine article that really spoke to her and put things in perspective for her.

Many years ago I did istikhara for a matter and I saw 2 disturbing dreams one after another that made me feel uncomfortable. In one of the dreams I received a clear verbal warning. There were no indications in my real life experiences that this particular matter would be harmful for me. The dream didn’t mirror my experiences or sentiments in real life. The warning I had received didn’t make sense to me at the time, but eventually some revelations and experiences in real life made me understand the dream warning better. When you seek guidance, things will eventually become clearer to you…even if it takes you a while to accept it.

Istikhara can be hard to explain to another person especially a skeptic. It’s an intuitive thing. As the seeker, you know in your heart when you’ve received the answer. You are able to connect the dots between your dua …and the signs you receive …and your feelings …and real life events. It’s something that another person may not be able to understand. And there are many things in life that are hard for other to understand.

I’m sure I can’t take this literally, so if you’re talking about selling haram, can we perhaps substitue with someone who sells alcohol despite praying, fasting and the rest of the stuff? Even if he sells alcohol or any haram food etc, he should still pray and do his other duties. The fact that he might be selling haram doesn’t mean he doesn’t need to fulfill his other duties.

Otherwise, the comparison to me makes as much sense as someone who is 20 lbs overweight thinking he’s in good health because he knows of someone else who is 50 lbs overweight and a smoker, who in turn thinks he’s ok because he knows of someone who is 100 lbs overweight and has diabetes.

All the instances you mentioned seem like plausible answers coming from Istikhara. The one seeking the solution will be the best judge. As long as they’re not limiting the answer to have to come from any of those particular means, I don’t see anything wrong with it.

But it is Allah who decreed fortune-telling is haram and shirk, So if you misconstrued a black cat crossing a street or a kuwwa in rooftop than you will be blaming Allah if the outcome was not as you thought was the signs.

You just wanted to gloat that you are so favored by Allah that you received a random phone call in response to your prayers, like most insincere people you want to use religion to glorify your irrelevant existence.

LMAO. I have never attributed bad luck to black cats or crows. The Prophet SAWS eradicated superstitions and you can even find examples of ayats in the Quran as well as in the seerah of the Prophet. During that time, people would do things interpret the way in which arrows fell …they would enter their homes from the backdoor…and other such superstitions which were condemned.

Istikhara is NOT fortune-telling. Istikhara is pointing in the right direction, it is guidance.

When someone received guidance from Allah that a particular matter is not beneficial and is to be avoided…often times it may NOT be revealed to the person WHY that matter was not in their best interest. Allah might close a path for you without you ever finding out why it was harmful. Just the fact that the path or option has now been closed is to be taken as guidance that it was not good for you. IF ISTIKHARA ENTAILED FORTUNE-TELLING…THEN ONE WOULD ALWAYS FIND OUT ABOUT ALL THE DETAILS THAT WOULD RESULT.

Also.........I want you to pay attention to the CONTRADICTIONS that YOU are making.

On one hand you are posting about Istikhara and the method .....................and on the other hand you are denouncing istikhara and calling it fortune-telling. It's a contradiction and this indicates that your intention is to create fitnah.

You are not a learned scholar even though you claim to be a Syed. The scholars have dedicated numerous years of their lives to learning the intricacies of the Arabic language, studying the Quran and the hadith and the sunnah. YOU HAVE NOT DONE THAT. YOU HAVE SPENT YEARS OF YOUR LIFE LOOKING DOWN ON PEOPLE. AND NOW YOU ARE ACTING AS THOUGH YOU KNOW MORE THAN THE SCHOLARS?????

By declaring Istikhara a form of "shirk"...................you are accusing the Prophet SAWS of shirk. You are disrespecting our Prophet SAWS and are rejecting istikhara which I am certain the vast majority of prominent scholars have not done.

Allah perhaps is already punishing you because HE has NEVER made you successful in your attempts at misguiding us about Islam. In the 7 years that you have been on this forum..............Allah has NEVER granted you victory in this maqsad. The only thing that you have earned on this forum and for all your efforts is rejection and disdain.

Moreover, people are not stupid. Those who have a busy life with varied interests don't spend so much time chained to an online forum. The other married fathers here don't post daily or even as frequently as you.

While you spend more than 50% of your trying to carry out Iblees's work of dismantling people's iman and faith and gaining approval................................the other men are actually tending to their ONE wife, their children, their jobs, and other things that make up their AVERAGE, RUN-Of-The-Mill lifestyle.......................whereas YOU, despite claiming to live a GRAND ABOVE-AVERAGE LIFE..........are living it on this forum.

And ONCE AGAIN, you are evading the points that I made in my post and deflecting them with irrelevant issues like child molestation, etc. If this is your idea of arguing intelligently.....you're failing miserably and you don't stand a chance on TED Talks. If this is your attempt at being funny.....you're not. If this is your attempt at trolling.........it's stale.

Grow up, Bob. You are the most arrogant prick on here with your poor, baseless assumptions about people you've never met. For a "Syed" you spend much of your time looking down on God's servants and declaring them failures.

You should be careful about the things you say about the Prophet SAWS because Allah's punishment doesn't always come quickly, but come it does unless one repents and mends their ways. Insisting that a practice prescribed by the Prophet SAWS was shirk is a big deal. Fear Allah and repent for what you have said. At least you cannot say that you weren't warned.

This is again a totally irrelevant response to my post, which was a response this post of yours:

That is where you are talking about things that people do that YOU don’t think makes them worthy of guidance. So I’m just saying that you can add omission of namaz, roza, hajj, zakat and eating/drinking haram to that list. Whether someone else’s will be accepted or not is irrelevant.

He’s become even more unhinged since he’s started these Deen Lesson threads. Persistent and increased irrelevance, increased baiting, increased manipulation. This could be the worst yet in 7 years. The state itself could be a punishment especially if isn’t aware of it and he’s gained nothing at all for his efforts. He remains unsuccessful and shunned. If he continues to attack Islam and the one whom Allah loves most, the Prophet SAWS, things could worsen for him.

Given the excessive amount of time and energy he spends here, I doubt he even bathes or changes his clothes much less tend to the demands of two wives.
