so i have been doing istakhara for 3 days and so far when i wake up, i dont remember the dream… and i have no feeling as well…
i know one has to keep doing istakhara for 7 days and then if he does not get a hint in dream, eh should make a decision which he strongly feels to be right.
now, i want to ask is that maybe i keep on sleeping for like 10 hours after doing istakhara, is it that which is effecting my dreams :S i mean, because when i wake up… all i remember is that i saw something but i dont remember what
so i just wanted to ask… does sleeping for long hours make one forget the dream…
What time are you going to sleep? Have you sought advice from people first? The decision that you take does not need to be what you strongly feel to be right, but what you have reasoned to be right and are slightly more in favour of than the other choice ... Ensure you are looking out for the best interest for all parties in the Islamic sense. Then the feeling will grow on you slowly as you begin to work in accordance with your chosen path ...
soleil, pata he kya, Istekharay ka result 100 percent theek nai hota. its just a hint. and aap na jane kis tareeqe se istekhara kerti han. anyways, there are only 3 days Istekhara. and it does not mean that how many hours you sleep. Sleeping too much or little is not an issue. Jab Allah aapko kuch batana chahe ga to kya woh aap ki neend k mutabiq bataaiga? Nahi Jan. Woh aapko kisi bhi waqt bata Sakta hay. sote, jagte, phirte waghera waghera.
pata he, Doosre thread me aapko mene kaha na, that Those who believe in Allah, they do not afraid. Aap apna her gham aur bojh Allah ka kandho pe Daal den, kyo k her cheez ka solution jab usi k pass he to phir Msaial ko bhi Usi k hawale kerna chahiyay, k AAP he mere Masail ko sambhalo..
thora lenghty reply he per 1 FArsi ka sher he,
KAAR SAAZE MA BA FIKRE KAARE MA
FIKRE MA DARKARE MA AAZARE MA
means k mera kaar saz (Allah) mere kaamo ki fikar me laga hua he, ager mene apne kaamo ki fiker khud he shuru ker di to phir ye me boht bara azaar utha loonga. Simply it means k aap apni sari pareshaniyan Usi ke hawale ker den. Aur Apni dua me itni berkat peda kare k woh Majboor ho jai aap ko dene per. Tahajud ko apni zindagi ka maqsad bana len, you will gradually see its power. 5 time prayers ko kisi bhi halat na chore. Woh kabhi le ker aazmata he, to Kabhi de ker. Dono haalto me aap ne usi k samne hath phelane han. aur Beshak Woh kisi ke haath khali nahi Chorta.
you can do it after any fard salah. you dont necessarily see a dream.
istikhara means you involve Allah in your decision and get mashwara from HIM.
there is no limit of istekhar, some says 3 days, 5 days, 7 days , untill your heart become sure about the decision.
there are many indicators from Allah, like your choices become easy/ everybody suggest you one particular option , or you will see easiness in one choice.
let me know, if you need further detail. i can help you.
thankyou ADQUSIT, i appreciate that you took out time to reply in detail, thx
dear STA, i hope something happens soon, its just so confusing, i dont want to be unethical nor dishonest nor greedy :(
i did istikhara last night ( for the 3rd time) and i am still confused.... one more thing, in normal life, i am someone who cannot make decisions :( but this time, i really want to take a step, make a decision for myself, just for myself.... i have been discussing it with everyone, parents and husband... but husband gives suggestions in his own interest....
I really really am leaving it to Allah.... thankyou thankyou for all ur help, jazakAllah
The reason why I asked you those questions is because there is a method for making istikhara ...
a) Ask those closest to you with knowledge for advice
b) Take their advice
c) Whilst taking the advice seek the help of Allah (SWT) ...
Istikhara is not about asking Allah (SWT) to decide for you ... that is not istikhara ...
When you say "I'm leaving it on Allah (SWT)" you have really made a decision - that decision is "to remain in the current predicament" - You either have a decision to do something or not do something ... and you have chosen to "not do something" ... but then you say that you have left it on Allah (SWT) ... you have not left it on Allah (SWT) really ... what you have done is chosen not to act.
Now if choosing not to do something is truly what you feel you should be doing then do so with confidence and then place your trust in Allah (SWT) ...
You said you are a confused person so pray and do du'a that Allah (SWT) gives you decisiveness and the ability to be clear in your thoughts. Sometimes doing something is "hard" and not doing something is "easy" ... If all the advice is telling you to do the "hard" thing ... then do the "hard" thing and seek protection and help from Allah (SWT) ... this is the true way of doing istikhara.
A sign will come to you clearly ONLY if you are NOT meant to be doing it and that it will harm you in some way. The best time to do istikhara is after 'isha before going to bed, but it is not the only time ... you can do it whenever you need help. But people think istikhara is about asking Allah (SWT) which decision to make ... this is not how it works. You must make the decision.
If it is merely the wrong decision without being critical then you will slowly be lured towards it by your heart liking the decision and disliking the other option.
well, i think you are right, i do the easy thing, but this one time i really want to do the hard thing, i want to make a decision for myself keeping in view my religion, and that is for sure.
Just pray Allah help me...... its like i am badly stuck between two choices, and i dont know what to do.... and also i am short of time too
one more thing, can i islamically stay for 1 month without my husband ( as he has job problems to stay abroad with me)
thank you for your help, jazakAllah. May Allah help u amin.
If you can manage and there is no other choice then do so ... Think of Ibrahim (AS) who left Hajarah (AS) in the desert with the small Ismail (AS) alone ... and think of Imam A-Ghazali (RA) who left his family to search for more knowledge. As long as you have chosen your place to live abroad then that is your home and you have freedom to go shopping in the local area for your needs. Get friends in the area so you don't have to be too restricted. And seek advice from an 'alim but these are the points that I can think of ...
@psyah, i have to do so for studies, i'll ahve to go abroad from time to time, but my husband can not travel that frequently with me because of his job, he can't take leaves so often... that is one of the issues

thank you for the reply and help.
jazakAllah... and buhat buhat shukria
BarakAllahufiq ... May you benefit from what is found in your own sincerity.
I think desi culture has twisted Istikhara into thinking that they will see "signs"....signs in the form of dreams or colors, etc.
When you read the translation of the Istikhara dua......you're asking Allah that if something is good for you in both worlds...that he MAKE it easy for you. Conversely if something is not in your best interest in both worlds...that Allah TURN it away from you and grant you something better and make your heart content with His will.
***Now the words "make" and "turn" don't necessarily mean that you'll see some sort of sign. It seems to imply that Allah will unfold the events in such a direction that either the matter will take place or it will not. It's the events...and their unfolding that are more concrete than dreams and looking for signs. Dreams and such things are open to a variety of interpretations.......and then in desi culture you have people asking others (sometimes several people) doing Istikhara for them and each person has their own interpretation and that increases the confusion.
You put your trust in Allah that he will either make it happen if it's good or he won't make it happen. That's essentially what the dua says. Put your trust in him....take the necessary actions.........and focus on the events/outcomes as opposes to looking for signs. I think that will alleviate the confusion/tension.
I've read about Istikhara on various websites......and there was one (maybe a couple) which mentioned that Allah will make the events unfold in a direction which is in your best interest. And that (for me) was the BEST explanation of Istikhara because it was a simple one......and it makes sense. There wasn't some maulvi/scholar with a long list of people asking him to interpret the signs they saw in their dreams. The message was simple "Put your trust into Allah...who has ultimate control over how the events will turn out in your life."
thank you RV... it was very kind of you.... things are still uncertain BUT they have started to settle a little bit;..... Bayshak Allah Tallah sab say bara hai Allah - o - Akbar !!!

Peace Adqusit,
Would you please re-wording it (highlighted as bold) as: Aap apna her gham aur bojh Allah ke a'asry ke saath rehny dain or else.
I think that there should be no confusion but let me explain little here. I would like to write in Urdu.
Dekhen, Allah ka hath pao ya kanda nahi he, mager yeh kehna k Allah k kandho pe koi kaam daal den it means k put your all burdens on him, because he has the solution of your problems. Jese Quran sharif me Allah fermata he jiska Mafhoom he k ( Ay Peghambar jab tum ne dushman per KANKRIYAN phenki to wo tum ne nai mene phenki), (jis ne tumhara haath thama us ne mera haath thama). Yeh Mubalgha sa hota he. No Need to worry about.
