Comment: I suppose Judaism is not necessarily Zionism.

Sabi, thanx for sharing the info. I feel the plight of the Palestinian people! I wish that, for once, God was looking down and siding with these poor folks who have no defense mechanisms available to them, and are so vulnerable in the face of so much hate. I especially feel for the children who are innocent bystanders in this mess. These same children are the hope for the future of Palestine. It starts and ends with them. I hope Allah mian carves the right path for them and makes them strong to be able to beat the conniving, deceptive, and cruel Israelis at their own game. Ameen.

well said mona!

just wondering...if you can provide the stats regarding deaths of jewish people? ...just curious!!

Well it certainly would be interesting to find out the ratio of Palestinian death to every Israeli death in this entire conflict. I’m expecting like a 1,000,000 to 1 ratio and that really angers me, because the media which is mostly Jewish, always tends to portray Jews as the ultimate “innocents” in all this. It’s so despairing! :teary1:

I realize this is Monday morning quarterbacking -- but it seems like they should have re-thought thiat whole intifada thing. It doesn't appear to have been too successful.

It got Sharon elected so it was successful for him.

But now he is forced to call elections after his coalition government split... it doesn't seem too successful in the long run.

5Abi,
Many many thanks for the information. An interesting post. The 'settlements' map you provided is pretty shocking. Funny how it's Arafat who is always expected to make the concessions - wonder why the UK, as an example, doesn't firmly demand to Sharon to halt all construction of settlements ?

The information you have posted is from a Jewish website. Looking back at prominent names in the fight for Palestinian rights, one comes up with quite a few nonMuslim names - Edward Said who is Christian, Hanan Ashrawi who is also Christian (although some of her family members are Muslims), Noam Chomsky (Jewish), Gideon Levy and Amira Hass (both Jewish), Robert Fisk (Christian). Even in print-based mainstream media like the Guardian, there's Suzanne Goldenberg who's Jewish and last year received a barrage of hate e-mails for her 'audacity' to report the extent of injustices against the Palestinians. It's courageous individuals like these who deserve our gratitude because in their absence, we would have a much more difficult time to ascertain (and raise awareness of) the facts on the ground... the maps that you have provided are an example of that. These people have done more for the Palestinian people than all the hypocritical, palace-building Arab govts.

Maybe instead of calling it “Monday morning quarterbacking”, we ought to call it a “season end review.” Let’s count up the accomplishments of the intifada:

  1. Took Barak down and brought Sharon to Power;
  2. A couple thousand dead Palestinians;
  3. Almost a 1,000 dead Israelis;
  4. His resistance amounts to committing murders of babies with pacifiers in Jewish Kibbutz’s that have traditionally gotten along quite well with and support their Palestinian neighbors;
  5. Total destruction of all economic progress that had been made up to the time of the Intifada;
  6. re-occupation of the West Bank by the IDF;
  7. The loss of any civil liberties and freedom that his people had;
  8. Children unable to go to school;
  9. Massive unemployment;
  10. A pending Israeli election most likely to increase the influence and power of the Israeli right wing;
  11. Loss of a significant amount of popular support among the American people.

I suppose they could claim as a victory the significant harm done to the Israeli economy and the 1,000 dead Jews. Somehow though, the strategy of totally annihilating yourself in order to bloody the nose of your opponent doesn’t seem like a good trade-off to me.

If this were a sports team, the front office would surely be replaced by the owner. Unfortunately, Arafat is like the owner and the front office. It’s pretty hard for him to say “oops -- This didn’t work -- My bad” after the devastation that has been wrought upon the Palestinians. He’s got to keep the possibility of victory dangled in front of them to keep their support. I just don’t see him getting anything but tarred and feathered if he admits defeat and tries to chart a new course. What would the Palestinians say? “Love ya, Yassir baby. Nice idea and a good try. You know the story about best laid plans. Keep up the good work and we’re behind your new plans 100%.”

Intifada has created a lot of problems but Intifada does not directly kill palestinian kids. Putting all the blame of palestiian plight on intifada is like putting all the blame of 9/11 on US foriegn policy.

Reminds me of ppl justifying attacks against some woman because she was wearing provocative clothing.

If palestinian deatsh can be attributed to Intifada, than Israeli explosions can be attributed to occupation.

Rubbish

Hey Fraudz. Chill. I didn't say the Intifada directly killed palestinian kids. Israelis did. I recited what has happened since the Intifada. Compare that with what happened prior to the Intifada over the same time frame during the Barak government. Point to me one single benefit that has flowed to the Palestinians since the Intifada. The point is pretty clear: it hasn't helped.

Those statistics are very disturbing indeed!

Looks like those zionist jews learned a lot from the Nazis after all :nono:
