Israeli minister wants Muslim ‘extremists’ to be converted

JERUSALEM: Israel’s extreme right-wing Tourism Minister Benny Elon
called on Sunday for fundamentalist Christian groups to convert Muslims
to ‘combat terrorism’ and bolster Israel.
“It would be better that these people are converted to Christianity,”
the minister told public radio, emphasising that he was speaking in a
personal capacity.
Elon, a member of the National Union party, said that he only backed
the conversion of (alleged) ‘extremist’ Muslims. He said that
evangelical groups, with whom he has close links, should ‘spread the
good word’ in Israel on condition that they do not seek to convert
Jews.
“In the past I believed that Islam was much closer to Judaism than
Christianity but I have changed my opinion,” added Elon, who is a
rabbi.
Comment
After failing to defeat the spirit of Jihad which runs through the veins of all muslims living in Palastine, the yahudies are now resorting to another tool which is to convert muslims to christianity, something which is laughable because every muslim is aware of how to refute christianity especially since it believes in seperation of religion from life whilst muslims believe that Allah swt is the creator and the legislator and their can be no sepaeration of religion from life.
But why i wonder is not the rabbi involved in converting muslims to judaism? is it because the judaic faith is one in which you cannot convert into and hence racist? Or is he afraid that once he starts a discussion with muslims it will be him who ends up converting to Islam?
Well, you can convert to being Jewish, but it is actually generally discouraged by orthodox rabbis because it is difficult to do.
As you say, though, this ploy to get christians missionaries to preach is laughable. The lack of any widespread success of missionaries over the centuries to convert Muslims is well known - Christianity faces a particular challenge in Islam, because Islam is the only religion in the world that explicitly refers to Christianity as being incorrect, explicitly gives reasons for this, and explicitly denies several core beliefs of Christianity (Trinity, Jesus (SAWS) being son of God , and crucifixion)
Interestingly enough, I’ve read about a couple of cases of Christian priests or theology students becoming Muslims, but never any cases of Ulema turning Christian. One can only conclude that the limited numbers of Muslims who turn apostate and convert to Christianity lacked knowledge of their own religion anyway… whereas the same cannot be said of the Christian side.
Maddy, you haven't read the history of Sub-continent in great detail. Did you know that the Imam of the grand mosque of Delhi became Christian? In fact, in the mid-late 1800s the evangelist used to say that if they expand at the same rate (And so did the Christian nations of Europe) they will make the whole Muslim world Christian by the 20th century.
Anyway, I don't think there is any 'news' in what the minister is saying. I want all extremist to convert to Islam (peace), be it Jews, Christians, Hindus or Muslims themselves.
Ahmedjee, I'd be genuinely interested in knowing your source for both the above statements - I haven't come across them before and I'd be interested in knowing the circumstances. Particularly the latter statement runs contrary to what I had learnt about missionary activity in the same time period.

Sorry, but that's not the only conclusion one can come up with. A born Muslim is indoctrinated from the get-go about the 'false' belief of Christianity whereas Christian scripture says nothing of Islam. A Muslim who commits apostasy by converting to another faith can face punishments like beatings, imprisonment, torture or death. Even in more open Muslim societies, a convert would likely face rejection from his family, be ostracised from his community and may lose employment opportunities. Christian socieities are generally more open which encourages debate and the study of spirituality outside of the 'state' religion. A convert in western socieites faces very little reprisals compared to a convert in Muslim countries. To say Muslims who convert lack knowledge of their religion could be said about a convert from any religion (including Christians).
Maddy, if I remember correctly, both of the statement are from an Urdu book I read in Pakistan that discussed the Christian expansion under British India & the condition of Christians in the sub-continent today (80s)
I don't think I can find that book, but let’s see if I can find some supporting books/articles to my statement.
nice approach by elon, so u take an extremist of one religion and make him into the extremist of another, who is just using u as fodder to wait for the return of the messiah :)
it would have probably been more logical for this ass clown to say that there should be outreach programs to people to help them understand one another etc.
sorting the type of issues that have resulted in people being able to brainwash other into extremists could be helpful as well.
I suppose someone can also say that the settlers should be converted to buddhism or rastafarianism as well.
