Israel Says They Want 'Assad' To Stay In Power

:salam2:

The Alawites used to say our Mujahideen were ‘‘servants of the Zionists’’ they would say that our mujahideen are working alongside Israel and america in Syria. Well the truth has been made clear, Israel needs Assad in power, they are like one big family. Our mujahideen are working for an Islamic state and this is what Israel and the Alawites fear the most.

Re: Israel Says They Want 'Assad' To Stay In Power

Extremist jihadis are not preferred by anyone in the world.

Israelis and its Western allies tried their best to let Assad go. But now they see that extremists are taking more and more control in opposition groups. And now their assesment might start changing. They are obviously uncomfortable with having another Afghanistan right next to Israel.

Bad news for Syrian opposition which genuinely wanted democracy established there instead of a Baathist dictatorship of Assad or religious dictatorship of extremists.

Peace khoji

The Free Syrian Army had in the very early days asked for arms support so they could defend themselves, but instead the West watched while rebels from all over came in and infiltrated the FSA ... The West sat back and watched ... Now no one is willing to help the side whose families are being killed because a small number of them happen to be radical violent Muslims ... I prefer to reserve the word jihad for those people who deserve that honourable title.

There will be no Afghanistan next to Israel if the Free Syrian Army win, because the majority of them are sensible educated and organised pro-democratic Sunni Muslims. Also, the real reason why Israel like Assad is because he is effectively doing them a favour by killing the Muslims.

Re: Israel Says They Want ‘Assad’ To Stay In Power

The goals of Free Syrian Army were commendable. They were looking for a democratic Syria and oust a dictator. This is how it should be. Democracy should be everywhere in the Middle East. Not just Syria but also Jordan, Saudi Arabia, Bahrain, Qatar, Kuwait, etc.

West did not interfere because Russia is the biggest supporter of socialist government of Baath regime. It is such a strong supporter that it is now willing to provide S-300 missiles to Syria. These missiles will make any air attack on Syria from Israel or America worthless. This is an example to show how far Russia is willing to go to protect Syrian government. And this is the reason the West could not interfere directly in the conflict.

However, the West did allow free flow of money and backing of FSA by Middle Eastern countries like Saudis and Qatar. West also helped Qatar host the government-in-exile of FSA. America has been donating millions of dollars to it. And it has been ignoring war crimes committed by FSA. Also, US has brought resolutions to interfere directly in the conflict but China and Russia have bulldozed them every time.

So the West did help FSA as much as it could muster with the opposition from countries like Russia and China.

A covert program to train rebel fighters, which State Department officials here were not prepared to discuss, has also been under way.According to an official in Washington, who asked not to be identified, the **C.I.A.**since last year has been training groups of Syrian rebels in Jordan.

Britain is planning more substantial nonlethal aid, which could include vehicles, bulletproof vests and night vision equipment, according to an American official.

Why Israeli is so interested in staying of 'Assad in power'? On the other hands, may be Israel is afraid from FSA that they will going to support Palestinian against them.

Re: Israel Says They Want ‘Assad’ To Stay In Power

The leader of Lebanese guerrilla movement Hezbollah said on Saturday his group would stay in the Syrian war “to the end of the road” and bring victory to its ally President Bashar al-Assad.

Hassan Nasrallah, head of the militant Shia Muslim group, said in a televised speech that Syria and Lebanon were facing a threat from radical Sunni Islamist, which he argued was a plot devised by the United States and its allies to serve Israel’s interests in the region.

Assad comes from the minority Alawite sect, an offshoot of Shia Islam. He has been bankrolled by regional Shi’ite power Iran and now increasingly by Hezbollah, Tehran’s Lebanese proxy which was founded as a resistance movement to Israel.

Nasrallah for the first time confirmed that his combatants were actively fighting in Syria, and said they had been there for several months. He said Hezbollah was not acting out of sectarian motives but to defend Lebanon from radical groups.

“Syria is no longer a place where there is a popular revolution against a political regime, rather it has become a place for imposing a political plan led by America and the West, and its tools in the region,” he said in a speech to mark the 13th anniversary of Israel’s withdrawal from southern Lebanon.
