Israel-palestine conflict

im confused… can someone please tell the correct facts about tha cause of the conflict? and is it true that the palestinian people gave space for the jewish people into their country after the ww2?

During World War 1, the Ottoman Khalifat (which controlled Palestine) decided to join the Central Powers (Germany & Austria) against the Allies (Britain, France, & Russia) in the hope of recovering land that was lost to Russia in earlier wars.

As the war progressed and Britain began beating the Ottomans, Zionist lobbyists persuaded the British government to promise to establish a Jewish homeland in Palestine after it was conquered.

After the war (1918), the Ottoman Khalifat was broken up and Britain took control of Palestine. Britain allowed Jewish immigration into Palestine. Using money from abroad, Jews were able to quickly buy land from poor arabs who lived locally, as well as receiving land from the colonial government.

By the 1930s, there were 3 different factions in Palestine.

1) The Jews, who wanted to hav an independent nation there
2) The Arabs, who wanted to avoid losing control of their homeland to the Jews
3) The British, who wanted to keep all of Palestine under their own rule.

Violence between all three factions grew. In the 1940s, and the aftermath of World War 2, a wave of terrorist attacks (bombings, shootings) against the British by the Zionists made Britain abruptly decide to leave Palestine and hand over the territory to the UN.

The UN decided to partition the land into a Jewish-controlled Zone and an Arab-controlled zone. British soldiers immediately left.

What happens next depends on whose version you believe.
Arabs say that they immediately began getting attacked by the Zionists, who wanted to controll all of Palestine, and the arabs therefore asked Arab countries to send soldiers to save them.
Israelis say that the Arabs refused to accept the existence of an independent Israel and attacked without provocation.

At any rate, the armies of the arab world were defeated in that war by the Israelis. Israel took over the arab-controlled part of Palestine and expelled or killed most of the arab population. This created a massive Palestinian refugee population, mainly in the West Bank, Gaza Strip, and beyond.

In 1967, the arabs were attacked by Israel in another war, and Israel took over parts of Jordan (East Jerusalen, including the holy sites there, and the West bank) and Egypt (the Gaza strip). Later, Jordan and Egypt gave up their claim over these lands to the Palestinian PLO movement instead.

By 1967, however, the UN had declared that it is illegal for a country to seize the land of another country, so all of Israel's gains in that war are held to be illegitimate by all other countries).
