Israel Inciting Palestinian Civil War

Israeli airstrike kills 10 Palestinians

By IBRAHIM BARZAK, Associated Press Writer 18 minutes ago

GAZA CITY, Gaza Strip - An Israeli airstrike targeting a key figure in Palestinian rocket attacks killed 10 people Tuesday, including the militant, two children and three medical workers who rushed to the scene of an initial blast. The deaths of at least eight civilians were sure to heighten anti-Israel passions inflamed by a weekend blast that killed eight beachgoers at a Gaza shore.

It also was likely to further complicate efforts by moderate Palestinian President Mahmoud Abbas to persuade the resistant Hamas government to endorse a proposal implicitly recognizing Israel.

Abbas condemned the airstrike, calling it “state terrorism.”

The deadly airstrike came hours after hundreds of Palestinian police loyal to Abbas rampaged against the Hamas government, riddling the parliament building and Cabinet offices with bullets before setting them ablaze in retaliation for an attack by Hamas gunmen. The rampage raised new fears the Palestinians were headed toward civil war.

Israeli Prime Minister Ehud Olmert said he had approved supplying weapons to Abbas to “strengthen his presidential guard, so he can strengthen his forces against Hamas.”

“I did this because we are running out of time and we need to help Abu Mazen,” Olmert said at a meeting with members of Britain’s Parliament, referring to Abbas.

it’s interesting that just a few weeks ago, there were talks of israel unilaterally deciding it’s borders. at the time, there were clashes between hamas and abbas supporters, such that israel did not have a partner to negotiate with and therefore would draw its own borders. i believed at the time that israel had a hand in inciting further turmoil within palestine, and now it’s been confirmed.

in the wake of israel’s beach massacre, i think this latest effort is to get the palestinians fighting with each other again to distract them from serious negotiations with israel.

90% of ur posts here are inflammatory rhetoric.......what a sad and pathetic existence.

please deal with the facts that were presented in the article, otherwise don't bother responding.

Re: Israel Inciting Palestinian Civil War

Are Palestinians really that feeble, or is this another attribute bestowed upon them by the Islamic world at large? Now, their emeny is so strong and cunning that it is making them fight amongst themselves. Really, what next, is the earth flat too?
Maybe Palestinians shouldn't really have a country of their own. They seem extremely gullible and incapable of even the most meager self management. Perpahs the solution is that Israel returns the lands it wishes to the countries to which they once belonged, like Jordan. After all it seems as if the Palestinains are even incapable of tieing their own shoe laces.

Re: Israel Inciting Palestinian Civil War

^ If Iraq has been unable to form a "stable" government with all the funding, military support why do you expect Palestinians who are "starving" and with no such strong support and with a hostile neighbor like Israel to be stable enough?

Re: Israel Inciting Palestinian Civil War

when are we going to have an ignore function on these boards?

Re: Israel Inciting Palestinian Civil War

Because, Captain Sahib, just like in the Palestinian areas, there are terrorists that the Islamic world considers heroes. Does the name Zarqawi ring a bell? The same terrorist that is being honored as a martyr.
Same is true of the Palestinain conflict. People who have no stake in the region are calling the shots to divert attention from their own shortcomings.

Re: Israel Inciting Palestinian Civil War

^ :hehe: yeah, Zarqawi is responsible for the whole country’s instability, isn’t it a shame that one guy was “head-on” with a coalition of world’s powerful countries and he was successful until he died? Lets not blame on toy-boys for the failure, yes he played his part and others played theirs, lets not pin the failure on opposition if the proponents failed to do their job.
