Pakistan will not be and should not be an ally of Israel. Israel is already loosing support even among the jewish population of US and the world over.
You do not have to be an ally to buy things from anybody. You can be a buyer they can be a seller and as Firenze said above Israel has many cool things to sell which we need dearly.

There is no use denying a country that exists and doing better than us. Israel can be very beneficial to Pakistan.

Mirch, most Israel can sell us is weapons, which they will never go you, they will never allow us to come on par with India.

it's not about weapons only, Israeli's are the world leader in water conversation, agriculture, geothermal energy, telecommunications & space science apart from Military tech.
Diplomatic relations with Israel will brought more good to Pak then bad. They have the strongest lobbies in the world most powerful nations. Israel can use it's influence to change Pakistani perception in the western world.
Imagine Jews organization having seminars & rallies together with Pakistani counterparts around the Europe & America.

But who will bag that cat ? Our leaders are too chicken to take that bold action . Israel has been portrayed as a daemon for decades and the common folks of Pakistan very passionately hate Jews and Israel due to mullah cursing them day an night in their sermons. Media has not done a good job at it either.

I can't say I like the idea of friendship with a nation like Israel, but everything is fair in love and war. If it benefits us, we should not hesitate in as Ironclast say "being a party at facilitating the oppression of Palestinians"
But only if there is something in there for us!

Isn't the concept of strategic depth in Afghanistan is same as oppression of Palestinians? They are doing openly we have (trying) covertly. Their is a reason ordinary Afghan hate Pakistan, and its very much the same reason why Palestinians hate Israel's, except the only difference is presence of religious dimension in Palestinian issue.
If anybody think, Israel can be military defeated by so-called Arabs, then yup keep living in the Jannat of fools. One way or other way - this issue can only be resolved on table by give n take.
Pakistan can help alot in this regards, with the help of Turkey & Malaysia/Indonesia.

Every decent person that i have heard on the subject beleives that, thats not what Israel wants, atleast thats not the Israeli right wants who hold the decision making in Israel. They are constantly expanding their settlements in occupied territories. They have choked a whole population. There have been Palestinians who openly asked for having one state solution, where Palestinians will become Israeli citizens, but even this is not acceptable to Israel bcoz they want to keep their state as a jewish state not a secular one.
I a rather aazed that at one hand you are want Pakistan to be a secular state with separation of religion and politics but on the other hand you want us to stand with people who have based their citizenship on religion and race.

You are right here. Israel does not want to make ANY CONCESSIONS to the Palestinians. However, the point here is weather Pakistan should ignore this in pursuit of our goals.

Basically, the Pakistanis have caused the Afghans more grief than the US ever can. Every Afghan curses the day Pakistan became their neighbor, because in trying to create "strategic depth", we have destroyed the Afghan nation. Although I don't' think its a necessarily bad thing. Everyone for himself.

That is not answer to my comment. If Palestinians have recognized Israel , have made a peace accord and are going to sign another one shortly then what is stopping us to recognize Israel and have good relation with them.

They choked a whole population because we are not trying to find a way to resolve the issue. As i said this will only be resolve on the table of negotiation and by give n take. Recent example was Flotilla issue, what happened ?

Yaar, i dont know how much have you followed the Israeli, Palestinian issue. But the negotitations oe peace accords have not brought the issue anywhere near settlement. If Palestinians recognize Israel we should too but we should not be seen as friends of a nation that kills civilians in cold blood day in and day out. Secondly, i dont beleive in your perception that somehow having Israel as friends will make the dollars flow to Pakistan
