ISPR documentary wins first prize in Rome
By Muhammad Saleh Zaafir
ISLAMABAD: The ‘Wild Rose,’ a 20-minute documentary produced by the Inter-Services Public Relations (ISPR) on the armed forces of Pakistan has won the first prize at the 17th International Film Festival held in Rome.
According to official sources, 27 countries, including the USA, the UK, Italy, India, China and Pakistan, participated in the eight-day festival. The ISPR produced the documentary in collaboration with the Pakistan Television. ISPR Director Brigadier Shahid Masud was the project director of film. It was directed by Zafar Iqbal Bungash, while Lieutenant-Colonel Syed Mujtaba Tirmizi was its producer.
The documentary highlights Pakistan’s rightful stance on Siachen. It is focused on serene beauty of the Northern Areas of Pakistan and illustrates its tourism potential. Contributions made by the Pakistan Army in socio-economic development of Northern Areas have also been projected in the film. The rescue of a Slovenian mountaineer, Tomaz Humaz, by the Pakistan Army aviation pilots in a daring operation last year that attained worldwide acclaim is one of the main highlights of the documentary.
Sources said that a delegation led by Brigadier Shahid Masud and Lieutenant-Colonel Syed Mujtaba Tirmizi represented Pakistan in the film festival. Syed Mujtaba Tirmizi was a part of the delegation. The documentary was greatly appreciated by the audience. The final rankings of the competition is decided by an international jury for the award of prizes, sources said.
The Association of Armed Forces and People is based in Italy. It organises an international film festival every year. The aim of the festival is to contribute to the promotion and knowledge of culture, art and the civilisation, fundamental values of people, which the armed forces of every country must defend and safeguard.

Re: ISPR’s documentary wins prize in Italy?
my memory is getting foggy in my old age..what can I say spock:bummer:
Re: ISPR's documentary wins prize in Italy?
lol nahee yar, yeh kis ne kaha... I probably remember that because one of my dads school buddies, a Col. in the ISPR worked in the production team, his name also pops up right after Shaoib Mansoor in the ISPR people's list, and coincidentally his names Col Mansoor (everyone calls him mansoora though)... This was the reason I looked for this link as I was informed he worked for this one too, so I wanted to get the name etc in hopes that I can find it somewhere.
Re: ISPR’s documentary wins prize in Italy?
Excellent work yet again by ISPR :k:
Cant wait to get hold of it. Any clues guys when and where it can be available?
Re: ISPR's documentary wins prize in Italy?
Spock, is Col Mansur Col Mansur Rashid? I think he remained with the ISPR HQs RWP for a long time and is quite famous. If i remeber right the PTV weekly program on the services "is percham ke neechay" was also his idea. Is he still serving?
'Sunehray Din' was also an ISPR and Shoaib Mansur production like ABC and a great job! At that time Lt Col Ashfaq Hussain the writer of "Gentlemen Bismillah" was also involved and his name appears in credits. many scenes in SD were based on his books and he was given credit. He has since retd as a Col.
Great works that leave you hungry for more. Shoaib Mansoor should wake from the hibernation now.
