I love secularism..it brought peace to the world in the 20th century.. 'nuff said..

Re: Isn't it great how religion brings people together.

Man brings peace or war Zakk, and I've never heard war being waged in the name of secularism.

Re: Isn't it great how religion brings people together.

^ using that argument UTD I've never heard of war being waged in the name of religion either

Re: Isn’t it great how religion brings people together.

Isn’t the very idea of jihad or holy war that it is fought in the name of religion.

Re: Isn't it great how religion brings people together.

Bin Laden's call for war against the U.s. is based on Religion brother.

Re: Isn’t it great how religion brings people together.

Stop being sarcastic.

Religion doesn’t necessarily have to be a cause of conflict, even if people have differences of opinion and don’t believe all paths lead to one destination they can still get along with each other.

As a Muslim I believe mine is the exclusive truth and salvation only lies in the monotheism of Islam just as a Christian would believe Allah is only reached through accepting “Christ’s sacrifice” and thereby being redeemed of the original sin, or a Sikh believing by being a Muslim I’m earning –karma by eating Halal/Kosher meat which to them is cruel which could result in me not achieving Moksha and instead being reborn as a maggot or something, same mentality will go for any person who feels strongly about his or her belief but that doesn’t mean we can’t co-exist and need to be at each others throats all the time.

Obviously the need to share is part of human nature and there’s nothing wrong with that but we shouldn’t impose our religion/views on those who don’t want it and accept them for who they want to be.

I have absolutely no problem with people who disagree with Islam as long as they don’t resolve to lowly comments, plenty of atheists I know at school don’t at first agree with a lot of aspects of Islam but they put it maturely “’Ranjhan I’m sorry but I don’t agree with that” and I don’t mind in the slightest, we’re all entitled to our own opinions whereas if they’d said “That’s a load of f’ing bollocks mate” I would be offended and probably have them.

Re: Isn't it great how religion brings people together.

no it's an extreme reaction to circumstances...any belief system helps
