Re: ISNA’s Eid Decision Misled Muslims

u know.... u bring more division among the ummah by starting a topic like this. It's done and over with...why dwell on it?

If my community and mosque is celebrating Eid on thursday shall i celebrate it on Friday just because that is supposedly the right day?

Re: ISNA’s Eid Decision Misled Muslims

Agreed. Thank you.

Re: ISNA’s Eid Decision Misled Muslims

That is so idiotic. What it has to do with desi molvis. Moon sighting controversy always occurs in western countries where desi and arab muslims are equal in numbers. The whole controversy starts because arabs try to follow KSA and us desis decide the eid on moon sighting. We don’t have such issues in Pakistan. So if you blaming desi mullahs for this problem then why we never have such issue in Pakistan since there are more desi mullahs in Pakistan then USA or UK.

Re: ISNA’s Eid Decision Misled Muslims

Just FYI, NWFP (or perhaps majority in NWFP) celebrated Eid on Thursday while rest of Pakistan celebrated it on Friday.

Re: ISNA’s Eid Decision Misled Muslims

^^ They do this every year. Its always predictable, so its not condsidered as an issue.

dogs chase cats not other dogs …

Re: ISNA’s Eid Decision Misled Muslims

saudis made the same mistake too

Re: ISNA’s Eid Decision Misled Muslims

PCG its not just about “seeing is believing…”

today in jumma the Imam gave a very good explaination of both methods.

There are two correct methods:

  1. Local Sighting: I actually dont’ remember the arabic phrases but if someone can point me to them that would be great… so local sighting is where the community sets up a local committee to witness the moon sighting and based on that they will decide.. simple.. very simple

  2. Global Sighting: If your region shares any portion of night (from Maghrib to Fajr) with anyother country in the world then the decision of moon sighting in that country can be used in your country .. again very simple ruling and nothing confusing about it

Now the problem is that in local sighting .. there are two different Organizations..

  1. ISNA and FIQH counsel

  2. Hilaal committee

these two organizations if looked closely can be distinguished by the “ethnic” backgrounds.. most of the masjids that follow Hilaal committee have desi management and ISNA well they have non-desi members  so here you go the problem is not ISLAMIC rulings or Hadeeth intereptetion but the problem is that these two organizations should talk to each other before announcing anything and should discuss and whoever wins the argument shall make the decision.

Re: ISNA’s Eid Decision Misled Muslims

Any one large group who follows whatever in 'good faith' or 'Niyat' and method to follow the recommendation is correct.

The recommendation in essence is 'Observe moon and start ramadaan or observe moon and end ramadaan. No place of moon sighting is specified in the recommendation anywhere in the world.

Those who follow moonsighting in arab countries are just as correct as those who follow 'local' sighting.

Re: ISNA’s Eid Decision Misled Muslims

Good idea!! someone neeeds to get these words into their thick head!

Re: ISNA’s Eid Decision Misled Muslims

^
I did e-mail ISNA and said that since they are one of the biggest organizations in north america, therefore they should include representatives of all other organizations and make a mutual decision on moonsighting.
They never replied me back and I don't expect them to reply me but if everyone e-mails them with the same request then maybe next time they might include other shuras/organizations.
