ISNA Convention - 2005

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

Pir Sahib, tuusi odher stalll lagan rahay hoo? We should call it what it is...Why do they need Nasseb's sponsorship/partnership. This just does not go with "Islamic" gathering. If people need to find their mates, they need to organize a Naseeb conference seperately and advertis is it as such.

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

From what I have heard, ISNA is a meat market for hijabis and beardos. Not to mention, with all the eyes on Muslims these days (anyone remember what happened to the returnees from the Islamic conference held in Canada), there would a few dozen FBI agents and hidden camera taken pictures of anyone and everyone who's attending an "Islamic" conference.

I wouldn't be surprised if the attendance this year is lower than last few ISNAs.

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

Mehnaz I hope by the end of this you are still coming. Most of those who replied sound quite discouraging.

I dunno :bummer:

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

I am going Mehnaz! This will be my first time though. I don't know what's it like but I've heard a lot about it -good and bad.

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

I am definitely going. You better be going too. You have to! We will keep each other company and go siteseeing if the convention sucks.

Dimagh, I will contact you sooner to the date. We should meet if we can.

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

i wish i was there :( it sounds like fun

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

Yeah! Please do. Let me know the date, I am not very good at updating my agenda.

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

Where is the list of speakers on the website? I see everything, but the list of speakers.

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

i want to ask u a question. where do u want these lost kids to go to understand a islam ???

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

Perhaps to Irshad Manji. I remember her mentioning how youth come up to her seeking advice and guidance.

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

only people who don't have answers to questions get agitated. Dope needs a good and healthy sex 101 himself.

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

i had a great experience going to ICNA conventions. I am sure Isna is somewhat similar to what ISNA so it was all good. i went on the one right after sept 11 incident and there were thousands of non muslims people from all over the states and some from foreign countries attention the show. And the interesting part was that there were alot of gorays were thr too just to know more about Islam...

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

exactly that was i am thinking  good jobf isal bahi  compeltely agree . we don’t go and ask our scholar that what ALLAH has order us then how we gonna act upon it. i mean in the time of Prophet Muhammad (Swa) people asked all kind of question. i mean whats wrong with it if they ask question about sex. they just wanna know waht they are doing is nothing wrong with it . mey be they look immautre but they are seeking for right thing with good intension.

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

The organizers, I'm sure, do not have it in their minds to set ISNA up solely for the purpose of allowing youth to explore the opposite gender...

Does anyone ask you to go to ISNA and check out the guys/girls? NO. So then why whine about the eye candy-seekers? At least, in the process, everyone learns something about their deen.

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

^ I believe those that have responded here disapprove of the haram activities that go on at an ISLAMIC convention, the purpose of which is to explore and help deepen your faith further. If people wish to check out the opposite gender, they should ideally do it elsewhere and not at a religious gathering, which is disrespectful :)

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

I dunno abt ISNA but ICNA does a pretty good job on the East coast, as per Galz/Guyz partying after that, proly its an easier way to get out of home....and party...

MehnazQ: GooOOooD Luck;)

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

ISNA isnt that bad. yes there is a lot of mingling, shadiness and friend making, heh ;) . But it depends what you are there for. The whole club isna label overshadows the convention. Alot of the guys/girls are there just to get away from home for the weekend with their friends and party.. I know people who actually went to things and people who refused to "party" and i know many people who went there solely to party. Its definitley what you make of it and is an experience, you should definitely go..

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

oh for God’s sake

yes of course there are people there for alternative motives

but, there are also people there for the real purpose

and if nothing else, it’s nice to see old friends you haven’t seen in a long time

i’ve been going to ISNA for years-with my FAMILY, and close friends and i have such a blast i love going

mehnaz, if you’re going, we GOT to hook up PM me and lemme know

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

Do you have to wear hijab? Do you feel odd if you are not wearing hijab? Full sleeves? Do ppl just wear what they usually do? Mehnaz I'll have to make outfits with full sleeves if I come, I don;t think I have any with full sleeves.

Re: ISNA Convention - 2005

^ FF, why do you have to do that? You should not change your lifestyle just because majority of people at the conference may disapprove of it......
