Ismaelis

Re: Ismaelis

Most of the above is correct. But the correct greeting for them is “Ya Ali Madad” and the response for it is “Mawla Ali Madad”.

As in order to become Ismaili, you have to go through the Tariqqah Board in the local JamatKhana in whereever you’re located. You have to put in a application with your basic background and personal info. Then they will set up an interview with the Tariqqah Board memebers where you pretty much have to tell them how you came to find out about Ismailism, why you want to convert, what you know so far etc. Then they will assign you a tutor, whose job it is to pretty much teach you the history of Ismaili’s, their daily rituals, and also their dua(the arabic and meaning of the dua). Once you have learned everything, your tutor will let the Tariqqah Board know that you’re done and then they’ll set up another interview where they’ll test you on the history, rituals and the dua. If you can’t recite the dua and the meaning without mistakes in front of the Tariqqah Board, they will NOT let you convert. Additional to the dua, you have to know 99% of the questions they ask you about the history and rituals. Once you pass the interview, then they’ll set up a date for you to attend JamatKhan where you’ll take your baiyat.
