For the past couple days, I have been reasearching about the Ismaeli relgion.
Apparently it is a subsect of the Shiaas.
My question is, do they worship Allah (SWT) and Prophet Muhammed (PBUH), do they follow the Quran and its teachings.
Why are they so isolated in Pakistan compared to Sunnis and Shia (majority) sects.
Are there any real life Ismaelis on this forum?
And what if someone wants to convert to Sunni from Ismaeli, do they perform traditional Kalima e Shaadat?
What I know a little is that Ismaelis are a branch of Shia.
Shia believe in different set of Imams while in Aga Khanies, Imamat started from Imam Jafar Sadiq:rehm:
They believe in ALLAH and consider Prophet:saw: as Rasool but they give Hadhrat Ali a place almost near to ALLAH, actually they in a sense worship him. They do not say Salaam but say YA ALI when meet each other or talk to each other.
Their current imaams (Like prince Kareem Agha Khan) according to their belief is the NOOR OF ALI and every Imam (who will be the son of previous) is the NOOR oF ALI.
They can get their sins pardoned by offering money, jewelry etc. to the Imam. (much of like Christianity)
There are more to it but I only remember that much at the moment.
Most of the above is correct. But the correct greeting for them is “Ya Ali Madad” and the response for it is “Mawla Ali Madad”.
As in order to become Ismaili, you have to go through the Tariqqah Board in the local JamatKhana in whereever you’re located. You have to put in a application with your basic background and personal info. Then they will set up an interview with the Tariqqah Board memebers where you pretty much have to tell them how you came to find out about Ismailism, why you want to convert, what you know so far etc. Then they will assign you a tutor, whose job it is to pretty much teach you the history of Ismaili’s, their daily rituals, and also their dua(the arabic and meaning of the dua). Once you have learned everything, your tutor will let the Tariqqah Board know that you’re done and then they’ll set up another interview where they’ll test you on the history, rituals and the dua. If you can’t recite the dua and the meaning without mistakes in front of the Tariqqah Board, they will NOT let you convert. Additional to the dua, you have to know 99% of the questions they ask you about the history and rituals. Once you pass the interview, then they’ll set up a date for you to attend JamatKhan where you’ll take your baiyat.
i believe that Islam should be a unified religion..there should be no sects. unfortunately humans have corrupted it as well just like they did with the messages of Jesus and Moses. The Prophet (PBUH) brought the religion of God and the only religion God wants his creations to practice, then how can there be different sect. from what i know the ismailis practice a totally different kind of Islam. they do not pray five times a day and their salat is just a recitation of dua. they do not pray like the rest of the muslims. all these sects only hinder the progress of muslims and cause infighting. either we should all accept peacefully all these differences or have no differences at all.
